West End Donner Lake, Lake Side, Dog Friendly, Beach Club!
Davvero vicino a Sugar Bowl :)

We had a great time staying at this cabin with our kids. It's a great location, right by the lake but on a quiet street. It's really close to West End Beach and a short drive to Truckee. The cabin itself was clean and well appointed, and provided everything we needed. We had a great time taking our kids to go play in the snow.

My family was visiting from the UK and we wanted to spend some time in Truckee. This cabin is a very short drive (or Uber) to the old town section with restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the view of Donner Lake through the trees, and overall it was comfortable and charming. Would like to stay here again, possibly in the summer!

Disappointed overall. The 4.9 average rating is hard for me to understand. Recommend anyone interested review the 2-3 ratings because they are more accurate. Items to consider: 1. There is minimal view of the lake from the cabin (pics are deceiving) plus closet access is 1/2 mile away… not a short walk. 2. The expectation that guests wash and dry linens and towels is a real pain point. 3. Furnishings and blankets are old and worn …also not convinced they were cleaned recently. 4. No dishwasher and guests are expected to clean and put everything away. 5. Lots of clutter in cabinets, ie. ancient spices, 7 frying pans (most better suited for recycling bin), etc

Great location and cabin owner was so helpful. Enjoyed our stay

Property was wonderful.
Met all our needs which was basically a place to eat, sleep, shower and close to fishing.
The entry level bedroom and bathroom adjoining the living room and kitchen were perfect for the altitude or stair challenged.
Hope to return.

This was our second stay at Robert’s Roost. Perfect weather to enjoy the beautiful deck with a view of Donner Lake. The cabin was very clean and so cozy. Hope to come back again.

We stayed a couple of nights. It was a really nice stay near the lake. A perfect getaway!

This cabin was perfect for my two lifelong friends and myself. It was clean, every bed and sofa was comfortable. Every item we reached for during meal prep was there. Quiet neighborhood, and no traffic noise. Within walking distance to the West entrance of Donner Lake Beach. Kayak and paddle boards available for rent, and there is pickle ball court.

This is a nice 3 bedroom cabin with views of Donner Lake. The master is upstairs. Has a small well equipped bathroom. The kitchen had every utensil you might need and we even found a crescent wrench in the closet when one was needed to tighten the nuts of an friends car battery. We enjoyed enjoyed our stay. Parking was plentiful as well.

Happy repeat visit at this wonderful location!

Definitely a cabin experience which is ok but so terribly dated. Beds were old and uncomfortable. we left a day early. My brother and his wife opted to sleep in their van rather than risk a bad nights sleep. Deck was lovely and view of the lake was great. Noise from freeway very distracting. The sound of the stream next to the house was pleasant. Not going back

I communicated with Jim, the owner, throughout the whole process from renting to accessing his cabin, and he was patient and professional.
The cabin itself is incredible. Rustic with all the comforts of home. The views are near prefect. The creek was running well from the snow runoff, creating a picture prefect scene. The lake is in full view from the deck.
The cabin itself is stocked with everything you would ever need. Just bring up some food, beverages, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. We brought way too much. All the furniture was comfy, with plenty of seating inside and out. Full bbq propane tank and a bag of pellets for the wood burning stove were at the ready. There is central heat and air but the stove warms up the place fast and creates a crazy cool atmosphere.
We brought our dog with us. First trip ever with her and it was the best experience. Jim was very kind in allowing us to bring her. Dogs are welcomed but we still truly appreciated him giving us the go ahead. Everything is there for your furry family member too. Leashes, bowls, pooper scooper and rake, literally just need to bring your dog and some food.
You must go to the ice cream place down the street, .6 miles away from the cabin. The Little Truckee Ice Cramery. Get the toasted marshmallow fluff topping on you're choice of some tasty homemade ice cream. You will not regret it. We went every single evening.
Go Enjoy the Roberts Roost!!

Lovely cabin with great deck overlooking scenic creek, tucked into trees with views of Lake Donner.

We had an amazing experience staying at the cabin. It is clean, cozy but spacious enough for the family. The kitchen is clean and has all the necessary pots, pans, and utensils. We had nice weather during the stay, so we cooked every day on the grill, which was a treat by itself, cooking and having the meal on the upper deck with amazing views. The location is perfect. The closest grocery store is just 2 minutes drive and the city center is about 12 minutes away. The access to the beach is nearby; you can drive down the street (2 minutes) or take a walk, which will take about 10-15 minutes. We most definitely would like to return!

Perfect accommodation for our family that included us 2 grandparents, son and spouse, and 8 yo grandchild. Location is the best and having separation of bedrooms and 2 bathrooms made it comfortable for all.

The cabin was great, clean, well kept, and a nice place to relax. Close to everything in Truckee, no issues to speak of, we had a great time. Great for groups.

My college-aged daughters overlapped their spring break by a weekend, and we decided to stay 3 days at the cabin. It was a perfect getaway. We were close to the beach and downtown Truckee. The roads and driveway were plowed. The cabin was comfortable and peaceful, and we were all able to recharge. We loved all of the furnishings and the easy-to-use pellet stove. We hope to stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful, beautiful weekend.

Communication with Jim was very smooth. We went skiing this time and it was very convenient. The view of the lake was wonderful too. The whole family enjoyed it. Thank you very much!

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Came up for a long weekend for a family Ski weekend and it was perfect for our two kids (ages 6 and 8) and dog. The beds were comfortable, the cabin was clean and tidy and the owner was very accommodating.
I would definitely recommend for a family to come stay and enjoy this cabin on dinner lake!

My wife, I, Daughter, Son-in-law, and two grand kids (5 and 1.5) enjoyed the cabin. Sleeping arrangements and two full baths(one has a tub) made the stay restful. We are a close family so the living room and kitchen area was easy to keep watch on the young ones. There is a safety gate supplied to keep stairs safe for the toddler.
A quick trip to Sugar Bowl (downhill and new tubing park) kept all entertained.
Flat well plowed driveway is a plus as ease to unload gear and groceries was easy peasy.
If you know the area it is an established area with cabins with real charm.
Would consider renting again.

We spent a week at the lake over Christmas/New Years' Eve (we left the 30th). Cozy cabin, excellent location, good access even in snowstorm. Excellent communication from/with owner.
As others have noted, though there are enough beds to sleep 7, the public spaces (living room/dining, kitchen) are a little tight—we were totally comfortable with 3, 4 or 5 would probably work fine, but more than that would be hard to manage at mealtimes.
The kitchen is adequately supplied with equipment, though if you're much of a chef you might want to bring your own knife (or a sharpener), and we didn't find a coffee grinder, so if you drink coffee, grind it first.
Combination of heater and pellet stove kept everyone warm. Upstairs bedroom with king bed is the coziest, though the mattress was a little too soft for our backs.
Internet worked fine, but the TV controls were a bit mystifying and we had mixed success accessing what we were trying to find.
Overall excellent stay, and we would consider booking again.

Such a great place. Spotless and has everything you need. Minutes from skiiing, food and local ice cream shop. Winter wonderland in the snow, beautiful view of the lake. Owner is super responsive, I hope to come back in the summer!

The house was just as described. It was very clean and perfect for a short stay for our family of 3 + dog. The location was especially great during the winter because the streets are regularly plowed and only minutes to the freeway. Communication was prompt and we were also able to borrow sleds. Would definitely recommend people staying here.

A very nice place on a nice quiet street with a nice view of the lake and nice walk to a very nice little pub.
The home was well outfitted, clean and instructions were easy to follow.

Cozy, comfortable and well equipped cabin. Great location with easy access to lots of great hiking and boating sites. It was perfect for our celebration of family wedding in Olympic Valley.

We needed an overflow cabin as the cabin we usually rent was full. The two cabins were just a few houses away so it was easy to go between. Everything was as listed in the description except there was only one king bed. It didn’t matter to us but might matter to someone else. All in all, it was a great stay!

Hidden gem!
This cozy cabin is nestled on the mountain side of Donner Lake. The location is fantastic - easy walking distance to the West end public beach park. The cabin is not a lake front but close enough that you can see the lake while you are surrounded by huge redwoods. The balcony made for a fantastic location for remote work, online yoga, outside dinners. Would absolutely rental again. My only comment is that the beds seem old - squeaky, loud, and not that supportive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the rustic yet very charming cabin. Couches and beds were comfy. The setting was really perfect with the creek right outside and the view of Donner Lake. The close proximity to the neighborhood pub was an added bonus. We definitely hope to book again in the future! Thank you!

The property was perfect for me and my two friends from college days. It was just the right size; not a large space but we had all the room we needed. Some very nice partial views of Donner Lake were welcomed! The beds were comfortable and the appliances in working order.
We rated only 4 instead of 5 starts because of a few things that were manageable but not ideal:
On day 1 the house cleaners still needed at least one more hour to finish their work when we arrived at the stated check-in time (due to a mixup in scheduling with the owner). So we went for a (lovely) walk and then checked in about an hour late. The owner apologized and compensated us by giving us the entire last day to vacate the cabin, instead of the usual 11 AM checkout time, which we appreciated.
The lock on the door that we used to enter and exit the cabin failed on day 2 of our 2-night stay. The owner was very responsive and told us how to use instead an outdoor lock box key (to a different door) which was easy to find and use.
The amount of silverware was on the low side, but worked for the three of us.
Overall we would stay here again, as the setting was charming and the owner addressed the issues that came up in a satisfactory manner.

The cabin was perfect for our 3 and our small dog. The desk is right above a roaring creek, but no disturbance inside. The kitchen has a wide variety of tool, dishes, and pans/pots. It was easy to find.
Jim was very responsive when contacted to ask questions about the TV modem.
