The property was more than we could have imagined! An enormous, elegant house with amazing views of the mountains! Property manager was helpful, responsive, and willing to work with our scheduling. Would absolutely stay here again!

We had a wonderful Christmas with our family at Wintersun. The house was beautifully decorated for the holiday and has everything you may need to enjoy your stay. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch by the fire pit in the mornings while deer and the horses grazed. We had some great hikes around the property and nearby. The kids enjoyed roaming the house and rolling down the grass in the front yard. I was slightly skeptical of the number of 5* reviews but everything was true. You can tell that this house is someone’s passion project and an incredible amount of love has gone into it over the years. We would absolutely return and hope to again in the future.

We stayed here and hosted a micro wedding on the property (20 people) and it was incredible! The house was large enough to have 10 people stay there plus have additional guests to hangout and didn’t feel crammed. The attention to detail of the property is incredible. Had a great time playing disc golf and walking around. Can’t wait to come back!

We just love this property. It is the second time we have stayed at Wintersun. What a comfortable and special place. The hiking trails, labyrinth and evenings on the front porch with the fire pits roaring watching the beautiful mountain sunsets. Close to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The attention to detail and stunning outdoor space, including a labyrinth for meditation, with breathtaking views, create a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. Stayed with a group of friends to celebrate my brother getting married. We were all constantly blown away by how beautiful the property was inside and out. It was such a wonderful and unique experience for all of us. Originally we had planned to spend more time in asheville but kept delaying those plans because spending time at this place was so hard to beat. Hope to come back.

Our family gathered from as far away as Germany to celebrated four 0 birthdays and could not have asked for a more magical place. It took months of research to find Wintersun and we could not have been more pleased.

From checking in to checking out, this was an awesome place to stay. The property is breathtaking, the house is beautiful, and the area is so much fun. Whether you’re looking to hunker down in the house for your whole stay, to traveling around the grounds and surrounding area (Asheville) there is something for you. We played a little bit of disk golf as well as walked around the trails traversing the property and had a great time. We also went into Asheville to visit some shops and breweries. No matter what you’re looking to do, this is a great place to stay to do it all. We will absolutely be back and have already talked about making this a yearly trip we all make. The house comfortably accommodated the 10 of us for both rooms and cooking. If you’re looking to stay for the weekend, or longer, I would recommend staying at the Wintersun Inn!

Wintersun has a perfect name. The first and third nights of our three day stay, the ten members of our group sat out on the front porch and enjoyed beautiful sunsets, talked and enjoyed cocktails. On the second and middle night, we sat around the fire in the kitchen den at sunset because of the cold breeze coming up the mountain. Of course this did not effect the quality of the conversation or consumption of beverages.
The home itself is fantastic! Beautifully appointed and maintained. The owner Judy could not have been more helpful. She had also thought of everything and even had directions on most appliances and the fireplaces that made it easy to feel at home.
I think everyone in our group had a great time and would love to come back in future years.

We just returned from a long weekend at Wintersun and it exceeded our expectations in every way. This is an incredible property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had 4 couples in our group and we had plenty of room to spread out and relax. We spent the weekend hiking, cooking, playing games, reading and enjoying the gorgeous views.
The house is incredibly well stocked and the owners even graciously provided coffee and all the fixings. The beds were super comfortable and we certainly enjoyed the fireplaces in the bedrooms which made for a very cozy stay.
We cannot recommend Wintersun highly enough! It’s a rare treat to be able to experience this special place. Thank you so much!

We always love our stays at Wintersun! Judy is so easy to deal with and takes good care of us. We think of this place as little Biltmore except we get to enjoy every bit of it! Every year we come, we extend our stay by a day. Not sure what we will do next year but we are definitely coming! The house, the grounds, the views, the hikes, it's all too relaxing! We had a delightful stay over a long weekend, facilitated by a courteous and communicative host. The home/inn is lavishly furnished, making for a great place to spend a cold winter night in front of the fire. And a walk around the property on mountain trails, followed by a sit on the front porch is a great way to spend an afternoon. Wonderful place for a (large) family.

What a beautiful and unique property. Above everything, we loved the privacy and tranquility, that is exactly what we were looking for. The house sits at the top of the hill at the end of a long paved driveway, winding through a forest and pastures, a bridge over a creek, the views from the front porch are amazing, you honestly do not want to leave. Inside you will find 5 ensuite bedrooms (large master down, the rest up), wood floors throughout, super comfy beds, everything extremely clean. Oh, and gorgeous fireplaces in each room (9 in total)! Judy the host was so kind to have the place still decorated for our arrival on New Years Day. I am so grateful she is offering her amazing home to others to enjoy as well, a truly one of a kind experience that we'll never forget. We'll definitely come back, thank you again!

I had booked Wintersun for my girls weekend birthday trip. Upon booking I immediately received a welcome message with info and recommendations for our stay. The property and house are kept immaculate. They really thought of the smallest details to ensure our stay was wonderful; lights were on when arrived, dining room table was set, and house was decorated for Christmas (just beautiful). All the beds were extremely comfortable. We loved the massive porch! We did wish, since it was colder during our stay, if there was a heat source on the porch. Like a little gas heater coffee table or something along those lines. We have already said we will be booking again!

It was exactly as I imagined, if not better. Our family occupied all 5 bedrooms, and everyone had plenty of space to spread out. We were there because my daughter got married in Asheville, so we used it for home base. I would love to go back again.

We loved our stay at Wintersun. We had 5 couples and there was plenty of space for everyone. We loved so many things, such as; 5 en-suite bedrooms, multiple seating spaces that fit all 10 of us (not easy to find in rentals), large dining room, beautiful views, private hiking trails (did not need to drive to hike), and lastly all the decorations. It was easy to tell of the love that has gone into making Wintersun. We even had an Afternoon Tea that including dressing up with ascots and fasinators. What fun as we felt right in place.
We have been renting in the fall for the last 15 years and this is the first place that I can truly say that I want to come back to. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Enjoyed a great stay here for my daughters wedding weekend. Location and facility worked perfect for us. The house and property are exceptional and we hade plenty of space for a family of 8 adults. All of the kitchen supplies were available to have a brunch for all the bridesmades at the house the day of the wedding and the master bath is a perfext place for having hair and makeup done. Did have some difficulty with the ovens but Judy responded very quickly and came to help us out. Would love to return for a weekend of just relaxing

Our stay at Wintersun was wonderful! The house and grounds are amazing - so well tended and kept up nicely. The house was perfect for 6 “old” girlfriends celebrating over 60 years of friendship. The house is huge and every room was so grandly furnished. The best part was the huge Front porch where we spent many hours chatting and laughing and celebrating our friendship - and taking in the beautiful views from every direction! Great location for our trips into Asheville and Hendersonville. We highly recommend this lovely estate and hope to return soon!!

This place is magical. The feeling pulling up to the Inn is indescribable. We had a small intimate wedding Saturday in front of the waterfall in the back of the house. It was a dream come true. Then 2 days of disc golf on both courses. Thank you so very much Judy!!

Terrific house and property - a real gem. We were a group of 5 couples in town for a wedding. We took walks around the property, spent a LOT of time on the terrific front porch just staring out into the distance (even in the rain) and enjoyed some great group time - we all reminded ourselves of “The Big Chill”. The house itself was even nicer than the glowing reviews - lots of little surprises and amenities that just added to he whole experience. We wish we had a full week to experience Wintersun and all of its offerings.

We absolutely LOVED our time at the Wintersun Estate.
It is a beautiful home with a welcoming wrap around porch with gorgeous views and a soothing, serene waterfall in the backyard.
Each of the 5 bedrooms is luxuriously decorated and each have their own wonderful views. Huge easy to work in kitchen and pantry area made the food prep go smoothly even with 4-5 women preping and cooking at the same time.
Alex, the property manager was so helpful in unloading cars and making sure fresh flowers made it to a cool place until we finally arrived.
The wedding shower was a huge success with local ladies joining the out-of-town group on Saturday from 1-5PM. The group couldn't believe what beautiful, elegant spot was found for the occasion. The Luncheon Buffet was spread out on the huge dining room table. Guests mingles and had so many areas to sit and eat. The formal living room was the sight of present opening and easily handled the group of 18 ladies.
Overall, the experience was tremendous. Everyone was sad when the weekend ended and it was time to leave.
Judy, the owner, was very responsive to any and all questions and requests. Alex, the property manager, was also stellar in making sure we knew all about the property as he assisted us in moving in. We hope to return again!

My brother and his groomsmen are disc golfers and this was a perfect retreat, so glad we found it. Beautiful, well maintained courses with an amazing, clean house. Lived up to the listing! Couldn’t be happier. The place is spacious, private, and beautiful to just hang at. We didn’t even go into town once all weekend, we were so comfortable here. Saw a black bear crossing the lawn at night, but there’s a safe place for garbage etc.

Our stay exceeded ALL our expectations! The house was amazing and easily accommodated our large family. The pictures in the listing are an understatement! There was more than enough room to spread out for some quiet time, but also spaces to come together to share a meal, sit on the porches, or play games. The grounds were also amazing -- hiking trails, a creek, frisbee golf, and acres and acres of serenity.

The house was very accommodating for our group of eight. Lovely mountain views with a large porch provided a perfect spot for evening drinks. It was extremely well supplied and spacious inside. It was an easy drive into Asheville. The major concern that we had was the lighting. We understood that the type of lighting present went with the decor, however, there are areas that brighter lighting would have been welcome. The kitchen was quite dark, which made it difficult to prep meals. In addition the high end oven was difficult to use, even after consulting the directions. The location and spaciousness of the house made our stay enjoyable.

You will not be disappointed with Wintersun. The property is beautifully maintained and so peaceful. We (10 of us) spent our time on the large porch and watched the children play on the large expanse of grass. Kitchen is well stocked and easy to navigate. Wintersun, a unique, magical place
Somewhere in our imaginations there lives a memory of a unique and special place. There we are forever connected with the ghosts of our childhoods at play or to cherished time with loved ones. My family and I found such a secret treasure at Wintersun, a secluded mountain home in Fairview, North Carolina. From the moment you open the private entrance gate you cross into 130 acres of gardens and rolling pastures. Whimsical statues peek out from stone clusters and undulating orchards. At the end of a winding drive you arrive.. Upon entering the expansive home at the top of the gentle mountain you are transported to another time. You feel the presence of the owner who has meticulously ensured that the spirit of Wintersun endures.. One can easily imagine gatherings around a crackling fire, snow endlessly falling and rooms filled with late night conversations and laughter. Perhaps adults gather just outside the prying ears of children to enjoy a brandy or glass of wine by the waterfall or on one of the great porches. At sunrise the windows of the five elegant bedrooms invite the fresh morning air and thaw songs of birds are everywhere. A horse appears magically in one of the sunlit meadows. Wintersun is all of this and so much more. Delight all of your senses in this special place of elegance, comfort and seclusion.

This house and this property was absolutely amazing!! Never imagined seeing such wildlife every single day. Bears, horses, birds, butterflies, fire flies, you name it...
This house will definitely become a steady stay for us...and next time we are hoping to get the cottage as well!

We traveled with our closest friends to Wintersun to play their amazing disc golf course for an extended weekend. We stayed at the Cottage last year but the Inn blew our expectations out of the water. The home is absolutely stunning and the property is even more beautiful. The Inn had plenty of space for our entire group to spread out and be able to have plenty of privacy while also having plenty of room to gather together.
When it comes to the disc golf course, expect a very challenging layout with tons of unique and rewarding holes. The course is scenic and one of the best I have played. I will for sure return to play again.
