This property has great views and is located in the unique neighborhood of Bica. Lots of local folks live in this neighborhood, so it gives you an idea of what it might be like to live in Lisbon. It's location is a reasonable walk to the Metro and the trains to Belem/Cascais. The Time Out Market and Mercado da Ribeira are also nearby. Like many properties in the old parts of European cities there are stairs involved, so this is not a place for persons with mobility issues. We are fit 68 year olds and it was a bit challenging at times. We have stayed in numerous highly rated VRBO properties and David is the most hospitable and best organized host ever. He is easy to communicate with by Whats App and readily available for advice on day trips, restaurants and local must see attractions. He truly cares about the comfort and well being of his guests. Getting him to pick you up from the airport is a good idea, as you can easily get to the property and settled in comfortably.

The apartment is in a good location…near the water, Time Out (we ate there several times), and close to many sites. The three bedrooms were very spacious…the common space was very cozy. The galley kitchen was very clean and modern and had everything you could ever need. We were there for a ten day trip with carry on luggage only so we needed to wash our clothes at the apartment. David has the manual for the combo washer/dryer but I spent way too much time figuring it out. In case you want to use these, turn the dial to the right to the icon that looks like a chemistry beaker…this is mixed fabrics like cotton and synthetic…the wash takes about 2 hours…we brought our own laundry detergent sheets which worked fine. Once the clothes are washed, make sure the clothes are just damp and not wet, then select the beaker icon with the sunshine on the left…this will take over an hour. If they are not completely dry, there are drying racks. My only complaint about the apartment is the steps… we understood there were a lot but that was not the issue…the steps are very shallow and most of stairways did not have handrails. Our apartment in Porto had the same number of stairs but they were wide and deep and had handrails. Lastly someone had mentioned that David also offers car service so I asked him about this as we had a morning flight…he arrived right on time and got us to the airport in plenty of time for our flight.

First this was one of the most beautiful views we've had and the flat was perfect. However one of the main reasons that we booked this property was that it had parking...IT DOES NOT HAVE PARKING. We did our best to communicate with David and he also did his best to understand our needs. We were told we could get a cab or park NEAR to get our bags to the flat. NOW we understand why you can't drop your bag at the door!! STEPS everywhere LOL but it would have been nice to know that in advance. So be prepared for no onsite parking and to get your heart workout!! We still had a BLAST!!

The property is right in the centre of old Lisbon,with easy access to the Timeout Market, riverfront and transport. Great local restaurants and bars. The attic accomodation has great views and is compact but has good amenities for a comfortable stay. We did know about the stairs and steps, but it was physically challenging. David was really helpful though and we all felt a lot fitter with the exercise.

Flat worked out really well for us. Location is fantastic. Lots of stairs to the top floor - but worth it for the views. David was great re. Communication and checking we had everything we needed. Would use again.

We had a wonderful time and fell in love with a Lisbon! David, the property manager, was so helpful! David helped us with our luggage helped us get settled in and gave us great recommendations. I give him five stars.

We enjoyed this apartment with big windows to let you enjoy the view of the river. The location was good. The only thing that everybody needs to know before renting this place is the high position without elevator, you need to be in great physical shape because is like a 5th floor with steep staircase. But the view and nice breeze passing through make it worth it.

The Bairro Alto/Bica area is older with steep hills and cobblestones. We chose it because it is more true to Lisbon and Portugal.
Despite being in the heart of nightlife with bars, restaurants, and a view of the river, the apartment itself is quiet.
It is a walk up to the penthouse, but definitely worth it. The views are spectacular but the best thing is the air flow. There is a constant breeze through the apartment. Despite travel during late July, it was so cool that we never used the air conditioning! I set our house to 70-72 so we like it cool in the summer.
David managed the property really well. He was attentive and always available. He will provide airport transfers door-to-door but does not want to push the service on guests. It is worth paying him instead of a taxi or company if only for the convenience. The old neighborhood has traffic restrictions and only residents and permit holders have the electronic passes to allow their card to enter the area.
Our flight arrived late at night. David picked us up, took us to the hospital for an emergency room visit, dropped my boys off at the apartment, and then came back to get us to the apartment. Talk about going over and above the call of duty...
He had plenty of helpful information for us. The apartment was overstocked with everything needed. Our expectations were definitely exceeded.

We enjoyed our stay in this nice penthouse apartment with a great view on Tejo River and the "Golden Gate Bridge" of Lisbon. Many nice places in walking distance. You really get an authentic feeling of Lisbon. David, our landlord, was extremely kind and helpful. He picked us up from the airport in the middle of the night and even brought some pastries for us. He gave us many helpful recommendations for things to see in one and a half days. We would come back any time.

Very much enjoyed our stay. David was very helpful. Guests with mobility issues should be aware that getting to the apartment involves five floors of stairs, in addition to the stairs from the parking area to the building (130 steps in our case). We happened to stay during a festival so it was quite loud until about 1:30 in the morning, and we also happened to stay during a heat wave, but opening the windows on both sides of the apartment helped with the air flow. Lisbon is a busy, bustling place and this apartment will put you right in the middle of all of the happenings.

The appartment was well equipped and David was very helpfull to indicate nice things to see around. However, even if I wrote him I would arrive at 15:00, he send me a message much later that the appartment would be ready only at 16:00. But he us stay until 12:00the day we left. During the month of June , there is a lot of festivities in the area up until 2 o’clock in the morning. If you do not intend to take part of it, find an other place if you want to go to bed early!!

Once was not enough! This was my second month long stay in this apartment in Lisbon. The location is perfect. The description and the pictures of the apartment are very accurate. Close to restaurants, transportation, historical sites and the river. The apartment is very well anointed with literally everything a person or family would want for an extended stay. The property manager, David, is always available to answer any questions and to promptly address any issues that might arise. A huge comfort for visitors traveling in a foreign country knowing that you have access to a real person and not a cold corporate hard to reach impersonal entity. Would highly recommend this apartment to others wishing to experience all the best that Lisbon has to offer including it's hospitality.

This property is located in an excellent location in the heart of the historic Bic section of Lisbon. We chose this unit largely because of this fact however, be forwarned that you must be young at heart and no mobility issues to manipulate the numerous stairs to get to the top floor of this building. Also, because of the topography of the city, you need to take many street steps up or down to the lower and upper streets of Lisbon. Located near many cafe and eateries as well as grocery and other retailers. Unit was adequate for our needs and host was very gracious and helpful with suggestions and booking our airport transportaton.

Great spot, very close to the Bica Elevator, two great restaurants close by at the end of our block & close to the hop on hop off trolley! The owner David was extremely helpful with our luggage since the unit is a FIVE floor/77step walk up! Definitely a calorie burning location!

Lisbon is an exciting city to visit. My wife and I had a wonderful time in the apartment, which is very spacious and well equipped. As first time visitors to Lisbon we quickly learned that the city is very hilly, especially in the older neighborhoods. Traveling to Lisbon from Porto by car we decided that the car would not be required in Lisbon as the public transportation system is excellent. David is a very gracious host who worked very well with us before and during the visit. With his assistance all our questions were quickly addressed.

We loved our stay in Lisbon. What a great city to explore on foot. All was prepared for our arrival and David is the best host we’ve ever had in all our vacation rentals. The apartment is very comfy with all needed for 4 people. The kitchen was well-appointed with new appliances. Views out the bedroom windows were very beautiful. There are many steps to get up to the apartment but the city has many hills so it’s just a few more steps. No big deal. We would be very happy to stay at this apartment again.

I could not say more positive things about the stay. Lovely apartment with terracotta rooftop and river views in the heart of it all. Rosso, Baixa, Cais do Sodre, Time Out Market, all within a stumble. Elevador da Bica runs right next to the location along with food, bars, mercado…
And the host, David, was generous with his time and energies, providing transport from the airport, some help up the stairs (yes there are stairs. It’s Lisbon and all the information about the city to get started and then some with spot on recommendations.
If your preference is a real live neighborhood for your Lisbon experience- hills, people, Pastis, and all, you could do no better than David and this great apartment.

David's flat was perfect for our visit to Lisbon. It was clean and as described in the listing. Communication with David was easy. He was friendly and very helpful for so many local suggestions.
The location was truly great for us. Bica is a fantastic neighborhood and there are lovely cafes and restaurants right on the block and very nearby (we particularly enjoyed an empanada restaurant just up the street). The walks to trolleys, metro stations, shops, loads of different food spots, and other points of interest are short. The walk to the train station to head out to Sintra was also pretty easy and takes about 15 minutes.
We would choose to stay at David's place again without hesitation.

Excellent location, host was extremely responsive, and apartment was very clean.
Apartment is on the 4th floor with no stairs, but you cannot beat the location, very close to TimeOut Market.

David is an excellent host and very accommodating. We had an excellent time here and it suited us (4 adults) very well. I don’t know that we have anything new to add beyond what the other excellent reviews have noted. A good place to stay and return to in future.

My husband and I stayed for three nights whole visiting Lisbon. The apartment was great, all the modern conveniences we needed, comfortable beds, plenty of pillows, excellent TV (World Cup Soccer!) and a washer/dryer - much needed during our long trip. David was wonderful both check and out were easy, he gave us a ton of suggestions and info about places to visit and eat, and was super easy to work with through the whole process.
It was bigger than we actually needed but having the extra room to layout our suitcases and pack everything up and such weas just great. there would be plenty of room for more than 2 people.
As noted, the apartment is on the top floor, about 80 steps, some narrow, so getting suitcases up and down can be a challenge, but all of Lisbon is up and down, so if you are going to walk, the extra flights are in the wash - haha.

We were a group of five acquaintances visiting Lisbon for 3 nights. David’s place was perfect. Check in went smoothly, even with our late arrival. The apartment was centrally located, with easy access to public transport, just be prepared to climb up and down a lot of stairs. All in all, would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return. Obrigado!

David’s apartment was perfect for the four of us! Very sleek and clean. The apartment is in a good location to walk to shops and restaurants and a market nearby. David was very helpful and easily reachable if needed. Only one setback is the amount of steps! We were very happy with our stay, however!

Great views and about 10 minute walk from all major attractions. As mentioned in an earlier review, their are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the unit. David is very responsive and accommodating. Overall, great experience!

There are many historical sites within walking distance and many wonderful eateries and restaurants in the surrounding area. ALL of this information is available for guests in an easy to read and reference binder filled with descriptive notes and corresponding pictures of the aforementioned historical sites, restaurants as well as bus, tram and train schedules. I would highly recommend this listing to ANYONE who is planning on visiting Lisbon Portugal and who wants to be right in the middle of everything that this wonderful City has to offer it's visitors.

Bel endroit idéalement situé
Comme souvent à Lisbonne tout se mérite à la force des cuisses et des mollets. Appartement au 4 eme étage avec belle vue, propre et fonctionnel. Bien placé proximité gare métro et bus. Resto en bas sympa. Hôte sympa et efficace.

Fantastic view looking down to the Tagus River. The neighborhood is very quiet at night but is only a quick walk to a restaurant or pub.
