Inviting, comfortable, and enormous! The place is stock with books and a fast WiFi connection, so even in bad weather, thee is no shortage of entertainment. The location couldn't be better, right in Woodstock and walking distance to everything, so it's easy to take advantage of the town. Best of all, the hosts could not be more charming and helpful. Would recommend, and would stay here again!

My husband and I could not have asked for a better place to stay during our trip to Woodstock. It's conveniently located on the main street within walking distance to great shops and restaurants (make sure to check out Early Terrible and Silvia!). The apartment has a spacious layout, which make it easy for us both to work remotely and take calls while we were there. Communication was excellent and check-in and check-out was a breeze.

Our family of four grown-ups from Germany arrived in Woodstock and were warmly greeted by our host Audrey. From the very beginning it was clear to us that this apartment was just great for our needs. Audrey and Jeff are wonderful hosts and really make an effort to make their guests feel right at home. The apartment is super-clean with lots of atmospheric detail in terms of furnishing. We had a great time in Woodstock each and every day (especially on Halloween....) and would love to return. This would be the place for us again, for sure. We really enjoyed our stay here - the place was exactly as advertised, very clean and right in the middle of town. We didn't need to drive anywhere and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to book in Woodstock.

"Above the Books" is hosted by people with "Above and Beyond the Books" qualities of graciousness, kindness, care, and a heartfelt gift for welcoming guests. We felt embarrassed to keep forgetting things when it was time to leave, as we dread any inconvenience to our sweet, caring, lovely hosts. We have come to understand that our forgetfulness meant a reluctance to leave, and a strong desire to return! We can hardly wait to come back, and to do a better job of remembering to pack every single item, no matter our reluctance to leave! Please be as thoughtful to these extra-special hosts as they will be to you!

This is the best place to stay in Woodstock! Look no further! Incredible location perched above the lovely bookstore in town, steps away from shops, food, and coffee. A perfect space for 3 or 4 adult guests who want to relax and be right in the middle of town. Our hosts were absolutely lovely, and the energy of the location was so calming and lovely.

The rental is located smack dab in the middle of town which made everything easy to walk to. It was cozy, comfortable and had everything we needed. The host, Jeff, responded immediately to the few questions we had. If you are visiting Woodstock, I highly recommend Jeff’s property.

Recently, I surprised my Mother with a road trip to Woodstock, New York. As difficult as it was for me to keep it a secret, the end result of this visit was so worth it. Her last time here was 30 years ago, she was totally surprised and this trip held special meaning for both of us.
We stayed two nights at Above the Books and could not have had a more positive experience! In close proximity to shops and restaurants, we did not need a car to get around. Audrey and Jeff provided everything to make our stay welcoming and relaxing. The property was spotless and spacious.
I cannot wait to come back for a longer stay. Audrey and Jeff...thank you for being such great Hosts.

Excellent property in the center of Woodstock. Merely steps away from Bread Alone fresh bakery and a variety of restaurants, music venues. Close proximity to Kingston and Saugerties for visits. Jeff and Audrey were amazing hosts. They were welcoming and thought of everything. Property was packed with all that you need for a comfortable stay. Will definately come again.

Above the Books was spacious and welcoming. The beds and living room furniture were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Communication with Jeff was easy.

I stayed for the month of June at Jeff and Audrey's property above their bookstore. They were gracious and delightful hosts and so easy to communicate with but provided plenty of privacy, The property was just as advertised - clean, comfortable, well appointed and spacious. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the deck when the weather cooperated.I had several visitors over the course of the month and they were just as delighted by the space and the hosts.
The location could not be beat - within walking distance of nightly live music, various cafes and restaurants, art, theater and the best family-owned hardware/general store east of the Mississippi which carries just about anything you could want. Within driving distance - plenty of hiking, art, mire music and theater and historical sites.
I can't wait to go back!

We did a long weekend trip to Woodstock, NY. I’ve visited in the past and stayed outside of town. When going into Woodstock, parking was a nightmare. We decided to find a plan in town to take away the parking worry. Fining a place a block from the town square and within walking distance of all of the shops and restaurants was the best decision we could have made. The property is above a small book store. It was very clean and well stocked. We had everything we needed. We got to meet the owners who run the bookstore. Jeff and Audrey were amazing. We loved talking to them about the area and things to see. They were a great help. When I return to Woodstock, this will be the place I stay. You can’t go wrong spending time at this property.

When Jeff and Audrey say that their location is in the middle of town, they mean it! We parked our car and never used it again until we were leaving. You get your own private porch with access right out the bedroom door! From one side you see the mountains, from the other you can see the road and the people coming and going through town. The place itself is cozy with plenty of seating and comfortable places to sleep. It also has a private meditation room!
They are a couple minutes walk from Peace Love Cupcakes which has been a winner of several competitions on The Food Network! The bakery right across the street and the one about two buildings down are mouthwatering perfection.
Jeff and Audrey were working at the bookstore while we were there so we got to meet them and they were truly fantastic people who offered great suggestions on where to go for dinner. They are so welcoming and the energy they give off makes you feel like you are talking to an old friend.
We were lucky enough to be there on a day that the store had a tarot card reader practicing right on the front porch! When our sessions were done, she helped us pick out a book in the store that would further help us on our journey. It was such a great experience!
My only complaint is that our schedules did not allow for us to stay longer!

We had a fantastic stay at Jeff and Audrey’s place. As others have said, the location is perfect for exploring Woodstock. Audrey gave great recommendations, and it was wonderful to be able to walk to everything (and we hadn’t realized how much amazing food there was in Woodstock!). We also explored the surrounding country, it’s a beautiful area with many hiking opportunities just a short distance away. The apartment was very clean, cozy, and well appointed. The bookstore is also very cool, we could have spent all day there. Jeff and Audrey are excellent hosts. We would definitely here again. Highly recommend!

This is the perfect coziest spot located in the heart of the best town! My husband and I went to a show at Levon Helm Studios and this place was a 3 minute drive. But I didn't have any idea when I booked it how much I would fall in love with the place! The owners are super nice and responsive. The apartment is charming and cozy and had a meditation room?!? It is also above a great bookstore! Smack in the middle of the town where great food and shopping are footsteps away. Highly recommend! Thank you! 🙏

This was my second time staying at Jeff and Audrey’s Woodstock apartment and I’ll be coming back again. It’s the perfect location and walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants in town. You are a short drive away from hikes and the other Woodstock attractions too. The apartment is very clean and cozy. My wife and I had a relaxing stay and can’t wait to come back!

Great hosts who were quick to respond to my many questions...The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well appointed, and the added bonus? Coffee and creamer (or tea if you would prefer) in the fridge ready for the morning routine. The downtown location made it perfect for exploring the town of Woodstock.

Travel back to the 60’s
Woodstock itself is a great place with a very laid back vibe. Walking down the street you could be in the 60,s, 70’s, 80’s till now. Cute little shops and restaurants. The above the books VRBO fits the same category. It was a GREAT experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. Very clean and spacious with everything you could need. Audrey was a great host. I’m sure Jeff was as well but didn’t meet him. If your looking for fancy go to the city but if your looking to relax and mellow out this is the place. If you like to hike there are some great trails but don’t miss Inspiration Point to Kaaterskill Falls. You must add the 1 mile down and back to the bottom of the falls. SPECTACULAR!!! The bakery across the street from “Above The Books” is excellent as well. We are already thinking about bringing our two grandsons back for a repeat performance.

Perfect for a girls weekend away
The property listing perfectly describes the apartment. Very comfortable beds, convenient access to everything downtown, plenty of parking and friendly hosts. It was. Ice that they provided coffee, filters and cream in the fridge.

Something Special
It might have been the owners, it might have been the calm air of the property or it might just have been Woodstock itself, but my wife and I had a wonderful stay Above the Books.
Smack in the heart of the town, you won’t need your car to enjoy exploring the shops , bars and restaurants and , although you’re at the centre of everything, the property provides a peaceful haven to escape to when you just need a break.
Everything you need has been thought of by the owners and I can recommend this place highly.
