This is a very simple home with nature surrounding it. We saw every kind of bird and sloths in the trees on the property. An Iguana made an appearance as well. The home is somewhat hard to find for taxi's but we used the Mary's BBQ restaurant nearby as the marker and this helped. We found many great places to eat in and near La Fortuna. The Home Vacations was excellent to communicate with and book excursions with. The staff was very helpful and available for us. We experienced a lot of rain but the temperatures still remained pleasant and we still were able to get out and and do many adventures. This home stay made us live the Costa Rican lifestyle and was a different way of doing things but we enjoyed the experience.

The home was large clean and was beyond our expections!
The owner of the home lives next door and came by in the mornings to put out fresh fruit for the birds (toucans)! The location was close to town, yet very private. It was my wife and I, our daughter and her husband plus 2 kids and my wife's mother...plenty of room!
Highly recommend this property to vacationers!

We stayed here for 5 nights on a family vacation with my husband, myself, our two kids (5yo and 21M), my sister, and my mom. The property is gorgeous and clearly loved by the owners. The house was spotless and came equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Lorenzo came.and showed us sloths in the trees multiple times and we had fun going on "sloth hunts" at night with our headlamps (bring a super strong flashlight with you if you want to see them!). He also came out and hung bananas on a stick out back in the morning and we saw tons of beautiful birds come to eat. The communication from booking to checkout was great. The pool is the perfect size for little kids (my very tall 5yo could almost.touch the entire length of the pool). And the La Fortuna area in general has a lot to do. We also ordered dinner multiple nights from Lorenzo's wife who brought it over to us and I HIGHLY recommend it. It was some of the best food we had the whole trip and was great after a day out. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. The best thing about this rental was the location and the birds! Every morning our host would bring bananas and birds would appear! It was magical The location was great--isolated but very close to the town of La Fortuna--a very special town. Our host was very responsive and we were able to book tours through the rental company. The house was a nice size (bedrooms a little small) but who spends time in a bedroom when in Costa Rica? Our family had a great time here! Thank you for sharing your home.

We spent 3 nights in this home with my family of 7. The outdoor area was AMAZING! Such a beautiful place with a great pool, pavilion and patio with rocking chairs. Lorenzo was so helpful and we enjoyed seeing the sloths that he found for us and the birds that he fed each morning. I would absolutely stay here again!

We had a great time. The caretaker lives close by and brought fruit to attract tropical birds each day. It was a nice secluded property that accommodated 5 adults and 2 teens nicely.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay! The house was spacious and clean. The outdoor area was beautiful and the location was absolutely perfect. The pool was relaxing! Lorenzo helped us spot multiple sloths including two babies. He also fed the birds each morning allowing us to see over 15 species. You won’t regret renting this beautiful property!

Lorenzo was our host and he has kept the property clean, safe and enjoyable. The pull is great. The whole location gives living in rainforest vibe and is sarounded by creec on two sides. The top floor bedroom is amazing as it gives view of trees on the property. There are some times sloths and lots of birds to view. In fruite season there are some rambatan, lemon tree, star fruit, banana and dragon fruit. We enjoyed the stay the costarican way. Pretty close to the downtown area although a car or a ride is needed. Grocery stores are 5 minutes away.

Each room had AC units, cool and comfortable. Great location to town. Enjoyed the creatures in the back yard and different birds coming to eat the bananas.

This house and property was amazing. VERY clean and all the comforts of home. The house was warm when we checked in but the AC cooled it off fast. The property manager helped us book some amazing excursions…zip lining and rafting and they were beyond expectations! We saw lots of birds and lizards. Howler monkeys while rafting! La Fortuna was nice as well. We will 100% be back!

Having visited Costa Rica 3 times before; once as a student on a 2 week high school exchange program, again after college and on a great trip with my husband a few years ago, I was very excited to share my love of the Costa Rica with our 13 year old son, 11 year old daughter and 9 year old son. We knew we wanted them to experience something less like a resort and closer to what daily life is like as a Tico. This rental exceeded our expectations. Lorenzo and his family own and manage this large property. There is a long driveway leading up to the rental which passes the homes where he and his family members live. This made us feel very safe and at home. Lorenzo and his family built the wonderful pool on the property. We loved the beautiful bridge that connected thr BBQ area and pool. We highly recommend Rosvil grocery in town and the carniciera near the church in town to pick up food to BBQ. We didn’t prefer MaxiPali. Our kids play soccer (futbol) and volleyball at home and we happened to bring a beach volleyball. They ended up playing volleyball, soccer and exploring with Lorenzo’s young family/friends for several hours on a few of the afternoons/evenings we were there. They had such a great time!! We absolutely loved La Fortuna and this house. For us, this house had just enough modern convenience to be comfortable, yet still reminded us of all the little things we sometimes take for granted back home. Muchas Gracias y Pura Vida!! We hope to be back one day!!!

Our family of 5 with 3 teenagers enjoyed our stay here. I highly recommend this house, it’s a beautiful location, feels remote and private, but still very close to town with many places to eat and shop. We saw so much wildlife right in the yard, sloth (that Lorenzo showed us), owl family, parrots, parakeets, great kiskadees, crested guan, butterflies, frogs and much more! The trees and flowers were beautiful too. The pool was nice and refreshing after our hikes. The house itself was clean and great view from upstairs bedroom, however we didn’t spend much time inside! Master bed was quite hard though and light from air conditioned made room a bit too light at night. Check-in wasn’t ideal as you had to stop in office first and then they take you to house rather than self-check in, but overall I would definitely book it again!

We enjoyed 4 nights here and totally enjoyed it. The house is spacious and had everything we need. It is a 5 minute drive into La fortuna for food and shopping. The beds were comfortable, the pool was perfect and the yard was full of birds. Lorenzo put bananas out every morning for the birds to eat. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch in the mornings watching them eat. While in the area we enjoyed: la fortuna waterfall, an ATV tour, the Arenal Volcano park, a night frog tour and the hot springs. The grocery stores had everything we need and plenty of fun restaurants to pick from.

We loved our stay and didn't want to leave. The property is amazing and was a very easy walk into town. We had 2 sloths on the property during our stay. We also enjoyed watching the birds feed on the bananas Lorenzo put out every morning. Our only suggestion would be a little freshening up on the living room furniture and a few extra linens but overall, our stay was awesome and we will definitely come back.

Three couples stayed here. Plenty of room, had everything we needed. The house was in an excellent location, a short drive (or Uber) or a long walk to the town of La Fortuna. The owner was helpful with information and advice. The property had a creek running through it with woods on all 4 sides. We saw sloths and numerous birds and felt like we were in the middle of the rainforest. I have stayed in VRBO properties all over the world and this was arguably my best experience ever.

Had a wonderful stay!! Saw so many different animals and birds!! Definitely would highly recommend. The only thing was that the breaker tripped 2 times during our 3 day stay. An additional mini split unit could be used in kitchen area. Besides that, we loved our stay!!

Beautiful property with lush vegetation and lots of animal sightings. My family stayed here for 4 days and didn’t want to leave. We saw numerous animals directly in the back yard, including a sloth with a baby! The pool is perfect for relaxing after activities. The host are very attentive to any needs and Lorenzo is amazing; his daily morning feeding of the birds was definitely a highlight.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we enjoyed the house and the property. So many birds, wildlife and beauitful plants. The creek was so enjoyable and the pool was lovely. Home vacations who managed the rental were quick to help with any needs, super nice and helpful. They arranged spa treatments at the house..awesome! It was a great location, close to town but far enough away to be secluded.
We hated to leave but the ocean called. I would definitely book this place if we ever get to return to Costa Rica.

We loved this house and the friendliness and helpfulness of Lorenzo the owner (he got the power back on very quickly one day). We also loved the natural setting and the wonderful pool.
The reason for the overall rating of 4 was the house was not well stocked. We came from another VRBO in Costa Rica with coffee, condiments, spices, towels and amazing kitchen accessories. This VRBO was very light on all these things which could easily be addressed and at little cost.
But, again, we loved our stay and appreciated our host.

The property was absolutely stunning, and Lorenzo was there whenever we needed something during our 3 day stay. We saw sloths, blue jeans frogs, several tropical birds, and even a snake! Location was far enough from downtown to be peaceful but only a 5-minute drive to the action. Highly recommend!

My family of five loved staying in this well maintained lovely family home. The grounds are an oasis with a beautiful private yard. A tree lined stream surrounds the property filled with birds. The private pool was fun for my children. The owner showed us a two toes sloth and its baby in the trees. He also put fruit out to attract the local birds for our family to see. The kitchen has modern amenities and everything is spotlessly clean. Staying here is very close to downtown and gives you a more authentic experience than a big resort. Would highly recommend!

I can see why everyone has given this place 5 stars....Fantastic secluded location just outside of La Fortuna with a bit of the rain forest in your backyard. Saw sloths, toucans, that dart frog, and all kinds of colorful birds while drinking the morning coffee. And then with the small private pool you almost don't want to leave.
Communication was great with the owners and also booked multiple tours through them, which were all equally fantastic. The whole family (including 11 and 13 yr old girls) would do this again in a heartbeat. Best family trip thus far.

Our group of five adults enjoyed our stay at the villa. The property is beautiful and serene. The first morning we were there, Lorenzo spotted two sloths that were in trees right on the property! Bird watching in the backyard was spectacular. We would have loved to stay longer. Muchas gracias Lorenzo and team!

The house was very comfortable and had everything we could ask for and more. Our family took advantage of the pool area and the bbq/patio area by the river when it rained to play games at night and listen to the nature. It was so relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Fortuna to sit on the patio watching the birds while listening to river running around the house. We wish our stay was longer

We loved our stay at this property in La Fortuna... it is a very short drive to the main square and close to all the restaurants/shops. Excellent communication with the owners.
While we were home, the majority of our time was spent on the back porch rocking chairs enjoying the wildlife. There was a water outage in the area and Lorenzo quickly brought over plenty of jugs of bottled water. Two (very minor) complaints about this place is 1) it is SO loud on the roof when it rains and 2) the couches in the living room are probably the most uncomfortable couches I've ever sat on. Again, very minor complaints! Thank you for a lovely stay.

The property has everything you could need for a good stay. The birds were a real treat to watch and listen to. Lorenzo put fruit outside every morning which drew them out and we sat and watched them every day for at least a while. The location is fantastic- you’re close to everything (I’d still suggest having a car, though it’s not absolutely necessary if you’re fit) . The kitchen is huge and modern. The property felt very safe. I highly recommend a stay here. We stayed a week and would have been happy to stay longer. There’s a lot to see and do and even just staying at the house is extremely relaxing. There a wonderful variety of plants and trees in the yard. One note: if dogs barking will bother you, this isn’t your place. They are cute if you get to see them and they keep the property safe, but they frequently have neighborhood ‘meetings’. None of us found it to be a problem. It’s a fact of life in many places we have traveled but I know it can upset some. The pool is great, hearing the nearby creek running is soothing. There were barely any mosquitoes- way less than at home!! The AC is luxurious, though I stayed in the top room and didn’t use mine as it cools down nicely at night and that room has a ton of windows. A+

We loved our stay. In reality, the house and grounds are even better than the pictures. We saw 2 sloths (one with baby) right on the property. Lorenzo could point them out when he comes to feed the birds. This place is very quiet, surrounded by nature, and a wonderful place to relax.

When it rained at night (and it did every night) the rain was very loud on the roof and woke us up.

Alonzo at Home vacations was an excellent source of information and very helpful.
Lorenzo put out bananas every morning that would attract the birds. Quite the bird show. Got us up and on the back porch early just to watch the birds. What a treat with your your coffee in hand. He also found a momma sloth carrying her baby in a tree and pointed it out to us. Saw a beautiful toucan as well. Would def recommend this quiet and peaceful home.

We stayed here for 9 nights and loved it so much! The house is beautiful, the beds are comfortable, the property is just gorgeous, and the wildlife is unbelievable!!! The pool was great, and the everything was very clean. I found close to 30 species of birds here and I’m sure I missed some. We were sad to leave and hope to stay here again in the future. Be sure to checkout Sandero las Mariolas, their reforested wildlife area down the street. Lorenzo and his father showed me around and I saw so many frogs, sloths, birds. Pura Vida!

Beautiful place with lots to look at and see. Great pool with a scenic walk. We were able to see three sloths, a colorful frog and toucans high in the tree from the property! Listening to the stream in the morning while drinking my coffee was the best. Our videos of the sloths are memories that we will never forget.

This home offered everything we could have asked for. It is only a short taxi ride into La Fortuna and not far from many attractions. Surrounded by 2 streams and trees it gives the impression of being secluded in the middle of a rain forest. The private and clean pool was used daily by all but was especially enjoyed by our 2 grandsons(5 and 7). Lorenzo was helpful in pointing out a couple sloths that frequent the trees in the backyard and never failed to place bananas in the small tree out back to attract a multitude of different birds early every morning. When we experienced a minor plumbing problem we simply contacted the property manager and literally within minutes Lorenzo arrived to quickly fix the problem. We honoured the request to turn off air conditioning units when we were not using those rooms and found the units to be very efficient, quickly cooling the rooms again when they were turned back on - very comfortable.
We highly recommend this home and would love to return to it in the future.

The house and property are everything advertised and much more. We were met at the house by Lorenzo, the owner, who was able to locate and point out a sloth within minutes of arriving. Lorenzo also strategically places bananas that attract a wide variety of birds daily just outside the patio.
There was everything we needed for our stay and the house was well stocked. All in our part slept very well.
Alonso, the property manager, was very easy to communicate with and managed all of our tours and transportation. His recommendations were great.
