Beautiful 16th-Century Colonial House in Central Antigua
La nostra famiglia ha acquistato questa casa coloniale nel 1965 e l'ha restaurata negli ultimi 50 anni. La casa, costruita nel 1568, conserva il fascino del vecchio mondo ... La casa è semplicemente arredata in stile spagnolo / guatemalteco.
La Casa del Sol è l'antica residenza del governatore del Guatemala del XVI secolo. Costruita attorno a un giardino con cortile centrale, la casa ha la cupola originale, il soffitto a cupola e muri di pietra larghi quattro piedi.
La camera da letto principale ha tre letti singoli, lucernario e finestra coloniale. La seconda camera è dotata di 2 letti singoli, soppalco per un bambino / giovane adulto e camino. La terza camera da letto ha un letto matrimoniale e un bagno.
Ci sono tre bagni con docce calde. Il piccolo soggiorno ha una TV via cavo locale e c'è una grande sala da pranzo formale. La casa dispone di internet wifi.
Self-catering con cucina completa: piano cottura a gas, frigorifero, tostapane, macchina per il caffè, acqua in bottiglia (inclusa), stoviglie e utensili da cucina. Fai colazione all'aperto sotto la veranda in pieno sole.
Governante e famiglia nei locali disponibili per cucinare, lavanderia, pulizie a un costo aggiuntivo. Ogni giorno è possibile consegnare prodotti da forno nelle vicinanze per pane dolce fresco e tortillas fatte a mano calde. Pratica il tuo spagnolo con un'amichevole famiglia locale.

The entirety of our stay was wonderful. The housekeeper Maria was able to make dinner for us one evening and the children and I loved it. The house is so much charm in history It's quite wonderful. Being able to be in such close walking distance and right in the heart of Antigua was perfect. The post also helped to coordinate pick up and drop off. I can't say anything negative at all. The entire stay was a wonderful change of pace and a great slice of Antigua history. I highly recommend to read about the history that the house has posted all over the walls on the entry in the living room in the bedrooms. To read about all of the effort love and stories that comes with the place that we got to stay in was fantastic.

Staying at this property in Antigua felt like stepping into living history. Built in the 16th century, the home is beautifully preserved, with a lush courtyard that immediately draws you in. Despite its age and museum-like quality, it never feels cold or untouchable—quite the opposite. There’s a warmth and comfort here that makes it easy to settle in and feel at home.One of the highlights of our stay was Maria, the housekeeper, who lives onsite in her own casita at the back of the property. She is consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful, adding a personal touch that elevates the entire experience.The second-generation owner has thoughtfully shared information about both the home’s history and the broader story of Antigua, which I found fascinating. It added an extra layer of appreciation for where we were staying and the cultural richness surrounding us.It’s not often I would say I felt privileged to stay somewhere, but that’s exactly how I felt here. Combined with an excellent location—within easy walking distance of just about everything in town—this property is a treasure. My wife and I hope to return one day when our children are older so they can experience this as well.

Our family, including two boys (10/12) had a wonderful stay. Enjoyed the house and outdoor patio and the lovely living space. Our favorite moment from Antigua was actually attending a soccer game, as it was about a 15-20 min walk from the house and was such a fun, and safe atmosphere. Definitely would come back again!
