Nicely appointed home with everything you need in a beach neighborhood. Adults enjoyed the biking around with the kids. The waves were big due to the recent storm but all enjoyed the beach & pool complex. Great place for multigenerations to spend time together!

Our group had an excellent stay at Blue Haven! We had everything we needed and more. The location was excellent and the resort amenities were an added bonus. Everyone was able to find something to do all of the time. The house was very clean and the space was perfect. Highly recommend!

All was good except for the unfortunate Sound smell from the rotting weeds, which was not in the control of the owner. Because of the smell, we were unable to use the Kayaks.

I booked Blue Haven as an off to college trip for my son and his friends and brought grandparents along. The property, location, amenities, and beach really brought a dream to reality for all. Anything we needed or wanted was in walking distance, and the kayaks and paddle boards were used daily. We saw bald eagle and osprey nests, outstanding fireworks, and enjoyed bike riding to the historic district and beer garden. Couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay in the OBX! Clell, thank you and your family for providing and sharing a true haven.

My entire family of 9 had an awesome time in this perfectly nestled house within a great neighborhood right next to the Sound. Being 1 block South of Currituck lighthouse area and just across Hwy 12 from the heart of Corolla Light Resort (the beach only minutes away) made walking, bicycling, scootering and LSV riding a blast. Large open spaces with plenty of seating for eating and playing card games, plenty of sleeping arrangements, and not to forget to mention the game/theater room (best part overall), couldn't have found a better house for what created a truly memorable vacation.

We came to OBX with our three grown children, son in law , future daughter in law and two grandchildren. Blue Haven was the perfect house for our group, there was plenty of room for all of us . We did a family movie night in the theater room, We enjoyed riding the bikes, walks on the nature trail, and the kayaks ans SUPs . This summer our youngest gets married and moves 9 hrs away, this is most likely our last vacation all together for a long time, thank you for providing such a great place for us to enjoy !!!

Our family enjoyed everything about our OBX vacation - well, except the weather.
Clell's place was perfect for us. First, it was so clean (a must for this picky mom!). Secondly, our married children were so happy about the three king size bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms! And my teenage son loved the lower level rec-room with the big screen for his nintendo switch games!
The neighborhood was great. We loved being able to walk to so many things. The walk to the beach was so easy (never felt the need to take the trolly). The kayaks and paddle boards were a nice feature. We enjoyed those - as many of the days were too cloudy and windy to enjoy the beach.
Even though the weather most of the week was cloudy, we were never lacking in activities. We walked to the lighthouse, flew kites on the beach, kayaked on the sound, went crabbing on the pier, visited the sports center, and enjoyed the spacious house. We even got in a couple of 1000 piece puzzles.
The house was perfect - kitchen well equipped for several at home meals. Bathrooms were updated and very nice (for those of you looking for pictures of the bathrooms, no need to worry!) The theater room was fun. We watched Top Gun Maverick on the big screen! The hot tub was in excellent condition. Plenty of outdoor seating for everyone!
Clell was great to work with. I asked several questions early in the week and he was very quick to respond. He gave us several dining recommendations and we were not disappointed!

The house was the most beautiful home we have stayed at in 12 years. Bathrooms and kitchen were amazing. Quiet but close enough to the beach. Sound views were wonderful. We would stay there again!

This home was very clean on the inside but not so clean on outside, the kitchen is loaded, very comfortable and exactly what we needed for our family of eleven !

Everything was as listed. Clell was a great host. Answered all of our questions and quick to respond. House was the cleanest vacation home we have ever stayed in.

We had many issues during our time here, starting with the booking. Two week after booking the owner increased the rate by 65%. By then the other 4 properties on our list had rented out. I called VRBO to check the legality and they said, “Owners can do this, but they’ve never seen such a high amount.” I was able to negotiate the upcharge to $1000.
First, the Xbox does not work. It wouldn’t load any of the games & kept asking for a memory card.
The freezer’s ice maker froze over and the door would not seal. Every morning we pried the door open and chiseled out an ice damn.
The theater system didn’t work. Kids in their PJs, popcorn made, and … empty screen. Clell walked us through some steps, but an AV tech needed to be called in and took 2 days to fix it. While troubleshooting we were asked to shut the system down, which took down the WiFi system.
The gas grill did not work. Again, veggies cut, burgers ready, but no gas.
Then the washing machine leaked water. Clell said the same thing happened the week prior. We had to wash clothes in the sink. Why wasn’t the appliances delivered when the problem was discovered?
Finally, the appliance delivery took all our beach towels. They were returned the next afternoon.
Before we leave, we get an email from Clell:
“We hope you have enjoyed your vacation and thank you again for choosing Blue Haven. I am sorry for all the issues that occurred during your stay, in 20 years we have never had so many thing (sic) break or require attention in a week (or an entire season)”
I have also rented houses all over the country and have had nothing but 5-star experiences. This has been my first 3-star rating. I understand that things happen, but this was out-of-the-ordinary awful. We asked for the $1000 upcharge refunded. With Clell clearly acknowledging we were his worst-case scenario during his 20 years, we got this reply:
“After carful (sic) consideration I cannot honor your request for a $1000 refund. Things break over time, as I have stated nothing that happened during your stay was an issue the week or weeks before except water on the floor near the washing machine which we reported to our management company to inspect. I responded to every issue immediately and fixed each as quickly as possible including replacing the washer and dryer set within 24 hours”
Yes, things DO break over time, but not typically in the span of one week and not to the degree we experienced.

Our family really enjoyed the house and the community. The house was warm and welcoming. The town of Corolla had so much to do and we loved that there was so much to do within walking distance. Definitely one of our favorite rentals and would go back again.

The trolly service, bikes and kayaks were an additional bonuses offered by this property. The property owner was also very helpful and prompt to answer any questions about the property.

An amazing value
We usually go to Florida beaches (30A) and this was our first time in the outer banks. We were blown away by the value of this house! It’s in a really great area, with lots of walkable amenities. The layout is really good for multiple families. The game room is great for giving kids their “own area”. Even if you never leave the house there is so much to do (foosball, games, hot tub, relax on the patio). The house was well stocked, from the kitchen to life jackets and beach toys. We loved kayaking/stand up paddle boarding on the sound. The trolly stop that takes you to the beach is located on the corner and the beach is as easy 7 minute walk. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable and we had plenty of space. The bathrooms were renovated nicely, loved the multiple shower heads. Clell is wonderful and was a great communicator. Such a gem of a home and we will be back!

Some updates in kitchen were very nice now just needs old cabinets cleaned and kitchen items organized and sorted to make it easier to find what you need. Just some tips for improvement. Overall loved our stay there!

Loved Corolla Light and House was fantastic!
Nicely appointed home just a quick bike ride away from the beach and the pools and basketball courts. There was lots of room for everyone to relax and unwind from a day at the beach. We had an amazing week! We hope to come back again!

Perfect place to stay on the Outer Banks, it’s everything the photos and descriptions say.

Wonderfully appointed home
This was our first time staying at the other banks. It is located in the Corolla light community. It was very well appointed and extra amenities made this home stay. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards as well as the bikes. We took advantage of the in-house theate for a movie night.

Great way to end the summer!
We had a wonderful time at Blue Haven! It was perfect for our needs. We were impressed by the well stocked kitchen. The location is excellent with a short walk to the beach! Our kids loved the bikes, paddle boards & kayaks. Thank you Clell for checking in when we arrived.

However, the coffee maker, though it looked new, was terrible. The kitchen was not organized and, strangely, lacked cookie sheets, though there were a plethora of party platters! I suppose the disarray is a result of rentals all summer.
I missed the check-in email, which I have repeatedly searched for. I have no doubt that I got it but have not found it yet. That is my fault. However, some of the many other emails about check-in were confusing. Taking into consideration the traffic coming to Corolla, it would seem that Brindley Beach would be obligated to stay open later on check-in days. I had called to explain my situation and an employee gave me wrong info. It was pure luck that I was able to catch someone exiting the locked door in order to resolve my problem.

Blue Haven
We very much enjoyed our stay at Blue Haven. The home was just the right size, and it was a bonus to have the bikes, kayaks and paddle boards available for our use. The homeowner was very attentive, called me on the first day, and replied to my concerns quickly. I think my only critique would be i think the cleaning staff could have done a better job. Unfortunately we will not be able to rent Blue Haven next year as we may have more family members join us, and we'll need a larger place.
