Field island vila has been my home for the past 3 months. I started off with one month and decided to stay longer. When I did a trip inland I was happy to say to go home again. Which I really called this place!
The place of Sampath and his wife is in the middle of the rice fields, and on the other side just 5 min with the bike to the first beach. 10 min to city center ahangama.
It’s a quiet place. The kitchen is a big big plus! Either mornings, afternoons or dinners; you can make everything!
Waking up in the rice fields, knowing that the surf is around the corner. If you want any food cooked for you sampath can arrange it for you.
So yeah if you want to stay in the quiet knowing that the exciting ahangama, beach, surf or another place is close by, I would definitely recommend sampaths place!

L’emplacement est au calme en pleine nature.

L’emplacement est un peu loin du centre mais c’est aussi le prix de la tranquillité !

Beautiful location in the rice field, but had some trouble finding Tuktuks that wanted to drive this far up from the beach.
It said the rooms had AC on booking.com, however when we arrived they explained that there was only one room with AC, and we had the two rooms without. It was so hot. So many mosquitos. Not possible to sleep. We left early because we couldn’t handle the heat/sauna in the room. I got a heat rash and so many bites, and needed medical attention :(
This is the tropics, and bugs will be wherever you are, however the rooms were not clean, a lot of spiderwebs, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the mattress smelled (probably from a lot of people sweating through the night with no AC).

I really loved my stay at Field Island Villa. The family is super cute and the room was comfortable and clean. I felt safe - especially as a female solo traveller. Surounded by ricefields, very calm and close to the beach too (5-10 min walk)! I really recommend staying there.

The view is amazing! The location is perfect: away from busy city street and in the middle of the rice/paddy fields with the nature sounds and some night amazing stars watching from the roof top. The owners are so sweet and the extra breakfast is worth to take. From here I made many trips through more ricefields and to the beach and town.

Felt instantly “home” when we arrived. Really warm welcome.
When we stayed there, there was a really open and friendly community between all the guests.
Located in the rice fields, very calm! Nevertheless it only takes a 20 min. Food walk to a very nice beach and many restaurants and cafes.

I loved my stay in Field Island. The family is super nice and friendly! I stayed 4 nights and I got vegan brekfast and dinner every day. And it was delicious! And big portions, I definitely reccommend trying them. :) The place is also good, it is quite close to the beach, about 10 minutes walking or you can always use tuktuk. The area of the place is beautiful, there are a lot of birds near the fields
The owner wanted me to pay in dollars so make sure you ask before in which currency you should pay. I had only LKR but it was not a problem at the end.

Verry friendly host took me to a nice curry place and to the scooter rental.
Jungle vibes, everywhere are wild peacooks, monkeys and a lot of birds.

Good villa located in the middle of the rice field. You wake up with a beautiful view and the sound of the birds. Really quiet place with all you need (small kitchen, patio...). And the owner is nice.

The location is 12/10. You really find yourself on a sort of an island there and you're surrounded by rice fields and a lot of vegetation. It's a serene place but at the same time, the beach as well as the town are pretty accessible from the property. The bed was comfy, the wifi worked great, even for Zoom calls and a plus point is that the room doesn't get too hot during the day. There was a fan but I never used it. There's also a small shared kitchen with a fridge where you can cut your fruit etc. The family who runs it is lovely. I recommend you rent a bicycle as the area is really nice to cycle.

lovely place hidden away from the noises of the main road, you fall asleep with the sound of frogs in the rice fields and wake up to the sound of birds. rooms are spacious enough and the owner is very accommodating. would recommend!

I love how tranquil this place is. All the greenery and wildlife around is amazing.
It feels remote yet still you are within 10 minutes walking on the main road and you can take a bus or walk to the town.
The room was simple but great for the price.
There is a shared kitchen, good for some easy cooking.
The owners are considered and give the guests privacy and space, which I appreciate a lot.

Place is a 10-15 min. walk from the street through villa road and crossing the railway. Was easy to find om maps.
It is very basic rooms, with big and nice mosquito net covered beds, basic matress though, fan and waterboiler in room. In front house is of 3 rooms for rent, with shared balcony amongst, looking onto the rice paddy field, wich the house is situated in. It is liturally a field island. Lots of monkeys, fireflies and sometimes big lizzards.
There is a roof top great for watching the stars in the night time. No shadow in day time.
Shared kitchen in the back has some pots and plates and fridge.
Jungle feel.

We stayed there for one night. Good Hostel to calm down. You are arround nature. They have Scooties there to rent for a fair price :)

It was a pleasure staying here. Rooms are simple in Sri Lankan style but cozy. There is only fan no AC but I prefer fans. I liked doing yoga on the roof in the morning. The kitchen is small but there are all you need if you want to cook. It’s 3 mins by Tuk-Tuk to the main road. Definitely you will like the sounds of birds, langurs, peacocks. Fireflies are amazing in the night. Owners are nice, helpful and give you freedom to do what you want :) Also, the mobile internet works really great here, so many guys work remotely from there

The rooms are lovely, spacious, quiet and with a terrace overlooking the rice fields. The owner and his family are incredibly kind and helpful. Their kids are a lot of fun to talk with, and they all speak a perfect English!
I also had a a delicious dinner and breakfast prepared by the family

The rooms are clean and well maintained. Simple but suited. This home stay is very special, it’s close enough to get on the ahangama beaches by Tuktuk or moped in 5minutes. If you want you can just take 15 minute walk to the locals beach next to the hotel school on the main road. Beautiful little bay opposite. The breakfast was superb, lovely Sri Lankan style string hoppers and Dahl with Papya fruit served with tea and coffee. We sorted out a scooter with our host also. The surrounding area is so peaceful and wild, bird songs woke us in the morning. The driveway is lovely too!

Relaxing place..Green fields with white birds around..Beautiful garden with flowers.. Nice terrace.. Comfy bed.. Good breakfast.. Few small shops in few minutes walk.. Good family.. Thank you..
