Loved the rustic and nostalgic feel of the property. We really enjoyed the dart board and the rowboat! Little platte lake is a local gem and it’s a nice quiet change from other lakes in the area. There is an abundance of wildlife on the lake, and we saw swans, loons, snapping turtles, big fish, and a muskrat while enjoying the dock. The host provided a couple of bathroom hand towels, kitchen towels, and plenty of toilet paper, among other things. No AC but the house stays fairly cool due to the log construction and shade trees, and there are fans for each window if needed. Tiny kitchen but well-stocked and it gets the job done! Nice bbq with extra propane available. 10/10 we would book again!

Cute cabin in the woods with great location and great property manager. Cabin was a little dirty and smelly and The coffee pot needs to be replaced. But we had a great time at the cabin and exploring the area!

Our stay here was FANTASTIC because it was exactly what we were looking for- a REAL cabin in the woods on a lake. This is not fancy, but has so much character that all it’s quirks add to the charm. Many quirks that could irritate some people but we thought they were great! Our hosts were wonderful…very nice and incredibly responsive. We will definitely be back! Five star OVERALL experience for sure.

I cannot say the property failed us, it did not. It provided nearby access to the region we love and continue to explore, summer after summer. But I would not be honest to future guest if I omitted several crucial details. And, perhaps my critique may inspire a few improvements future guests can enjoy.This property has no air conditioning. There are fans in the cabin, which we did deploy in our bedrooms, but even in the fairly mild daytime temps of our visit (mid-70s to mid 80s) nighttime was uncomfortable by any contemporary standard. Linens and laundry service are not provided, nor is there laundry room on site, something many VRBO travelers have come to expect on longer stays. The beds themselves are not great. Not criminally bad, but definitely lower rung in the typical VRBO world we’ve experienced. And, not to be THAT guy, but the top bunk, quite high for an upper bunk, completely lacked any restraint to prevent a child–in this case, my 9-year-old–from having anxiety about possibly rolling out of bed in his sleep. So we couldn’t use it for both our children, resulting in the sharing of an adult bed.There is no way to lock cabin from outside–no key–so there may be some discomfort for some in leaving valuables unattended while families are out on an excursion. We’re small town folks and I get the ‘charm’ of not having to lock one’s doors, but when a family is hundreds of miles from home, that security is comforting and, frankly, not difficult to provide.
