Amazing property, even better than the photos. Dave is a fantastic host and it was truly a wonderful stay. We had nice weather and really enjoyed going out on the deck to enjoy the sun. Also played lots of pool and the sun rise in the morning is breathtaking. We will hope to return soon!

My friend Val and I were looking for some serenity for a few days and we found it in Newcastle. The views from the house are magical and watching the wildlife interact with the bay was just fantastic. I cannot think of a single negative to share and we plan on going back in the spring.

We were two couples visiting the area for the Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival. David’s house was amazing - a beautiful view of the river, immaculately clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The weather didn’t permit us to use the kayaks or spend as much time out on the deck as we would have liked, but we enjoyed the indoor space and the pool table in the basement. David lives in the carriage house in the property and personally welcomed us and gave us a tour and showed us how everything worked. He was flexible with his usual checkout time of 10:00, which we felt was unusually early and allowed us to stay until 11:00. Our weekend stay was a real treat.

This cottage is so charming and comfortable and the water view is delightful. Dave is the perfect host, immediately attentive to any questions or problems. We also appreciated the cheese, wine and English muffins and coffee that he left for us.
We managed to try most of his restaurant recommendations and they were spot on. Damariscotta is only a mike or so away with cute shops, good restaurants and a fabulous Hannaford’s Grocery.
I hope we can return soon!

We love Sea Lavender, it has all the comforts of home from AC to a washer and dryer.
The deck is a great place to relax with a glass of wine and watch the eagles, osprey and herons.
The owner, David is a wonderful host, very helpful if there are any issues.
Hope to return next year!

From the first moment Dave, the property host, personally met us and showed us around, you just knew you were in for a special stay. Dave welcomed us with a gift basket filled with goodies and a nice bottle of wine. But you could see immediately the property was the star of the show! The cottage was decorated with very relaxing colors and comfortable furniture and very whimsical pieces of art that just make you smile. Than you step outside onto the deck and see why this is an oasis of wildlife…..Bald eagles, ducks, Canadian geese, blue herons and other marine life. The view is unobstructed and what a view it is! Whether watching from the deck or trying the kayaks that are available, you won’t be disappointed.
I would definitely recommend this property for all to come and relax.

Our stay at Sea Lavender Cottage was so very special.
You can tell immediately on entering that it was lovingly designed for comfort & peaceful respite. Full of light & ambiance, with spectacular views from all the windows. Every little detail you could possibly think of thoughtfully in place. The deck is a joy & watching the sunrise from there is beyond beautiful. We saw eagles every day across the Bay, plus many other sea birds.
On our arrival we were greeted by the owner. A cheerful, charming gentleman, who gave us a tour of his home & answered all of our questions. Then made himself available if we had any other needs.
David, thank you for sharing your special place. We hope we will be able to come back and visit with you again.

This blue/green turquoise gem is flawless. I have an extensive history with VRBO and this is hands down the most exemplary attention to detail home I have stayed in. Great thought has gone into this beauty. Tough to find an open date ( everyone wants to return) and for good reason! Also, the most interesting owner I have encountered renting from VRBO. Thank you David for your gift of hospitality.
Literally Perfect.
One hint: Google maps/GPS struggled to find the correct location, perhaps Waze might be your better choice for directions.

Sea Lavendar Cottage was as advertised and the reviews were 100% accurate. The property is beautiful. The house has everything you need and makes you feel like you're at home. David was a welcome smiling game at check-in and made sure we were set for a great trip. The welcome basket was much appreciated. You do not encounter individuals as welcoming as David very often anymore. The location is perfect - close to town with a secluded feel. The entire family (3 yr to 40 yrs) had a great stay.

The Sea Lavender Cottage is one of the most charming homes I have stayed at. As soon as you enter this lovely cottage you can't help but smile. The cottage is light and bright, and vibrantly decorated, and it oozes with so much character! The owner, David, really puts in every effort to ensure your stay is memorable. Communication with him is a breeze and when he personally greets you to hand over the keys, he will take his time to tell you all about the area. My family and I really appreciated the welcome basket of goodies, too! (Thank you David!) The cottage is also immaculate and the kitchen is fully stocked with every gadget you need for a homecooked meal. And the best thing about this cottage is...the VIEW! Watching the sunrise on the deck overlooking Salt Bay is SO AMAZING! Overall, my family and I had a magical stay!!!

This cute cottage was a perfect location for my two friends and I on our girls trip to Maine. David was so great at communicating and welcomed us so warmly! He even met us at 2 AM to show us around the cottage after our flights had been delayed several times. Such wonderful service! The cottage is extremely well taken care of, cozy and very clean. We had everything we needed and even the basket of food was a wonderful surprise. We made day trips to Acadia National Park and all the cute little towns along Highway 1. Downtown Damariscotta was charming and friendly. I highly recommend this lovely vacation home, it’s a VRBO done right.

Everything about Sea Lavender was perfect…the location, the cottage, the surroundings. The owner was attentive, was there to meet us and kind enough to leave us coffee, muffins, and jam. Sea Lavender was one of the best places we have rented in Maine.

Some of the photos don’t do it justice.
It’s beautiful and so many detailed touches. The bottom floor room is quite nice also.
Lots of space to spread out.
Plenty of wood to use for the out door fire place. Fantastic to sit there by the fire with water views.
The views from the windows from so many angles I walked around left me with a pet petual smile.
Convenient kayaks on the dock. Be mindful if you go down stream and the tide as some spots get more rough towards the end of low tide and take an hour or more of high to get back through.
Awesome value and we even had a welcome package delivered the next day!!
I was not fond of arranging our arrival time to get keys in, however David was super nice about timing.
I would prefer some plain wine glasses. The really long stem and super pretty ones in the hutch looked more like a decoration and we didn’t want to bring them on the deck.

Superb! We just loved our stay.
David was a fantastic host, who personally met us for check-in to show us around. He thought of everything, from the Moon Maine guidebook to the binoculars we could use to watch the bald eagle nesting on the island across the bay. He also left some english muffins with local jam so that we had something to eat in the morning even though we arrived fairly late. There was fun, beachy, nautical decor throughout, and the beds were very comfortable with lots of light. The house comes with a private dock and two single-rider kayaks, and at high tide the depth was ~4 feet, so our kids could jump off of the dock and swim a bit (muddy bottom, so bring water shoes). The dock is easily viewed from the deck (which also has plenty of shade), so it was a perfect place for our family to relax. We were very close to town, so it was a quick drive when we needed food or necessities at the local stores. One thing I would suggest bringing, if you enjoy listening to music, is a portable speaker.

I would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful Oasis
To say my husband & enjoyed our stay at Lavender Sea Glass barely scratches the surface. We were thrilled to see, when we first drove up, that the property is literally just about ten feet from the water w a couple kayaks right there on the dock waiting to be used. The colors throughout the home were exquisite & the attention to detail refreshing. The kitchen is stocked w all needed pots, pans, napkins, paper towels, condiments, utensils, plates, bowls, glassware & mugs. There’s even a selection of sharps to choose from when cutting into a watermelon. We loved using the fire pit which had lovely Adirondack chairs situated close by. The real magic of this cottage lies w the most amazing water views from each window & the deck w high quality chairs & cushions on which to sit gazing on the water. One really must experience this cottage to appreciate the true tranquility it offers. Going out to Damariscotta to walk around, see the shops or eat had our family feeling as though we never wanted to leave this place. My husband & I also had the wonderful experience of going to Lincoln Theatre upon its reopening to see In the Heights- an experience we loved. The towns of New Castle & Pemoquid offered much to see as well. Pemoquid Park Beach was the most wonderful & easy beach experience imaginable, & followed by having supper at the Contented Soul, had us feeling so very thankful for the slice of heaven we had found. Our grown children joined us for part of our stay, as there is a lovely bedroom & bathroom that was all theirs. Be sure to book a stay at This cottage- you will be so very happy you did.

We visited David's beautiful Sea Lavender Cottage to celebrate a birthday and anniversary and we were blown away at how perfect the cottage is, the view and salt water breeze on the Great Salt Bay, and the privacy we New Yorkers thought only existed in the movies. From the moment we arrived and met David for a tour, we knew we found a slice of paradise in Maine. For half of us, it was our first visit to Maine and we already want to go back. If you're looking for a cozy, detail oriented HOME for your visit, look no further. The trees started to show their fall colors, the bay rolled in and out daily, the Canadian geese stopped by for a quick fly over, two bald eagles, and a beautiful blue heron amazed us daily on the most peaceful deck. We cooked daily in the kitchen that looked out on the water and warmed up by the fireplace at night. We honestly felt at home right away and didn't want to leave as we explored all the delicious restaurants and stunning landscapes nearby, but we found a nice balance. If you go to this area, the Newcastle Publick House is a must visit - the best wings we all had ever had. Overall, we will be raving about our stay at SLC for months to come and then we will book it again because it's just that perfect.

Beautiful Cottage
In looking for a place to stay in the Damariscotta / New Castle area we came across Sea Lavender. The owner David met us upon arrival to provide a detailed tour of this amazing cottage. He also surprised us with a generous gift basket of goods from the area. The cottage is extremely clean and inviting with water views from every window. We enjoyed kayaking on Great Salt Bay everyday along with sightings of bald eagles, osprey, blue herons and more sea life. David was attentive to make sure our needs were met throughout our stay. Sitting on the deck overlooking the bay daily was a favorite past time. After one rainstorm we were lucky enough to have a double rainbow over the bay. We highly recommend the Sea Lavender and are planning to return next year.

Very nice property in a beautiful and quite location. Minutes from all shopping and activities.
The property and grounds are so much nicer than expected. The pictures do not do this property justice. It was a beautiful quite time with adventures all over to be had. From sitting at the fire pit at night, kayaking in the bay, going out to dinner in the town (2 mins away), to seeing the sites of the area (15-20 min drives). In addition, David was an amazing host in every way. I travel a lot and this was one of my favorite experiences! I will return for longer next time.

Sea Lavender Cottage is Perfect
This is a charming, immaculate cottage with spectacular views of Great Salt Bay. David greeted us and introduced us to Sea Lavender Cottage. The cottage is wonderfully decorated with relaxing colors, comfy chairs and bit of whimsy! David was very responsive with a few questions we had, but everything was well done and we had no problems at all during our 2 week stay. We woke to beautiful sunrises and looked out on the wide expanse of the bay. We watched blue herons, osprey, gulls and ducks from the deck. Kayaking was especially wonderful as the bay had gentle currents and lots of coastline to explore. And within 10 minutes we could drive to Damariscotta and enjoy it’s restaurants, bookstores and other shops. We will definitely return!

Beautiful House: Would come back again
We had a great stay for a week in July (2 adults & 3 teens). Excellent location right on the Great Salt Pond in Newcastle; just a couple of minutes to Damariscota. This was our first time to Maine and using VBRO. So, we didn't know what to expect. The house and stay definitely met and exceeded our expectations. The house is more beautiful than the photographs. It is well decorated and comfortable. We only used the A/C on a single day, but we were glad the house had it and it worked well. The location of the house on the water had a very nice breeze most days that flowed through the house. The view from the deck is unobstructed to the Bay and the dock is steps from the door. We cooked a lot and the kitchen was very well equipped including gas stove/oven and dishwasher. The house had 3 kayaks and a wood canoe. We kayaked all over the Salt Pond and had a great time, it was really peaceful. We didn't see any seals, but plenty of water birds. The Salt Pond is tidal and has very little motor boat traffic, which was nice not to hear the engine noise. The Host (David) was really great: he met us a the property and gave us an orientation to the house. Departure was just as easy. We definitely recommend and we are looking forward to coming back.

relax in cozy comfort with lovely details in pristine little cottage
We had this cottage recommended to us, and we could not be happier. After a summer filled with working hard and being very busy, we were so looking forward to doing nothing and relaxing in a spot that we felt comfortable in. We are pretty particular and love a home/space that is clean and well taken care of. This one was so neat with so many little considerations that made it feel so homey and inviting. The location is wonderful, right on the salt bay where sea birds could be seen, an occasional kayaker, and the changing of the leaves.
There were two televisions, which was a wonderful thing with baseball play-offs going on! We fixed wonderful meals from a nearby organic market, watched the pumpkin races in nearby Damariscotta, took leisurely drives, and relaxed on the deck when we got a bit of sunshine to enjoy.
We are introverts, so the time alone and unbothered was recharging. The colors in the cottage are adorable, something out of country living! David is a lovely person to chat with and left a little goodie box that welcomed us when we arrived. We will be coming back again when our batteries need another recharge, as it is the perfect place for comfort and quiet. There are tons of things to do in the area, don't get me wrong, but doing nearly nothing is just what we needed. Thank you for a delightful home to relax in and the beauty of the surrounding area. Your cottage was well chosen when purchased- it is a little piece of Heaven! ♥
