You have the convenience of the road to the village and wineries at the front of the property and the privacy of the countryside at the back. The cottage is well supplied with all the things you need for a comfortable stay

We had a mixed view of the Lodge. We stayed here due to the location as we were attending a wedding at Redleaf
It was in a great location, good size and very easy check-in. The place was very clean and had a bottle of wine and chocolate left as a gift which was a nice touch. A very nice and spacious outdoor area.
However, there were a few negatives:
There was no mobile reception and no wifi.
There was no iron which I probably should have checked rather than assuming there'd be one. Since we were attending a wedding, we needed one and was very difficult getting our hands on one.
Also no shampoo / conditioner, again something you expect when paying several hundred dollars a night.
There was no linen... only a bottom sheet and a quilt and my partner came up with hundreds of little bites which we suspect came from the bed.
You can't drink the water but there was 10L bottle of drinking water available.
Also to watch out for:
The beams in the house are very low. Being 190cm I was constantly hitting my head and having to walk hunched over. Getting to the toilet was also quite challenging.
A lot of wildlife gets inside. We had a rather large lizard run across the floor and an enormous Huntsman on the wall. Given the regional area you probably have to expect this.
Overall it was ok but for the price I'd look elsewhere

Very pleasant stay. Thank you. Would like to go again in winter and enjoy the fireplace. Quiet country outlook. Very close to town and excellent meal in local pub and restaurant. Thank you for the unique experience and the bottle of wine and chocolate.

Ignore the rather shabby facade. Once you enter, it is full of character and has a welcoming, homely feel. We came for a wedding and found the location to be excellent. Very close to the hotel and cafes on one side and the wedding venue, Red Leaf, a few minutes from ve on the other. We wish we had booked for a longer stay and will return to si be more time at The Lodge and visit the wineries.

The lodge is a lovely renovated property located slightly over 1KM from Wollombi . We enjoyed the warmly decorated interior and the large outdoor area. the welcoming bottle of wine was a very nice surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed it . Thank you Richard

Just what I hoped for. A quiet retreat within walking distance of Wollombi village. Clearly this is an old cottage which has been carefully renovated to retain its charm. I saw lots of birds including satin bower birds from the pleasant outdoor areas and large windows. Only one caveat ... there are 4 steps up to the toilet, which could be a problem for those with mobility issues.

We loved our weekend in Wollombi. The cabin was comfy and cosy, and was just a short stroll away from the village centre.

A lovely rustic property with beautiful grounds and surroundings. Well equipped and very functional . Very comfortable beds and it contained everything we needed for an enjoyable stay . A beautiful log fire with ample supply of wood and the bottle of red wine and chocolate was much appreciated on our arrival. The property within a short walking distance of the Wollumbi township.
If you wanted a few quiet days away I would recommend it.

Loved this rustic gem just a short walk from the quirky and historic town of Wollombi. Enjoyed exploring local history in the mini museum at the old courthouse in town, and breakfast on the sunny deck at Myrtle & Stone. The Lodge has everything you need plus beautifully tranquil sunny, gardens in which to unwind. Also enjoyed the complimentary chocolate and wine and a log fire on our first night there. Thank you Richard - we'll definitely be back!

Cottage ticked all the boxes. Good log fire with plenty of wood,private setting, close to Wollombi cafe/pub, we walked, Comfy bed, lots of wildlife, never seen so much variety of birds in one property. Thoughtfull gift on arrival, thank you, Highly recommend :)

Beautiful quiet place, very peaceful and relaxing, the only thing i would suggest is the hot water could be hotter and some spare blankets. Other than that we loved it.

We cant say how great our stay was enough,
The host went above and beyond what we were expecting and we couldn't have asked for anything else!
Definitely recommend to anyone considering staying here and its only a short drive to shops and pokolbin

Really enjoyed the stay, comfortable, clean and welcoming. Close to town for a short stroll and far enough away to be peacefull. Home was equipped with almost everything needed.

The Lodge was the perfect place for a quiet stay. The house had everything we could need, and the property was lovely. Highly recommended.

This stay at Wollombi exceeded our expectations. Richard's home was even better than the photos online which is rare with accommodation bookings. When we walked in we were amazed with the beautiful details of the cabin and the woodwork throughout especially the floorboards and fireplaces. More garden space than expected and everything you need to cook all your meals here and dine outside or inside. Richard even made our stay feel so special by leaving us with a bottle of wine and other treats.
We will try and make it back here again. Thank you Richard.

Private and spacious property that was decorated beautifully. It was very cosy and comfortable.
The wine, chocolate and greeting was a beautiful touch!

The property had some nice features but as it was not insulated it was cold, even with the log burner on. The bed was not comfy, though it was warm with an electric blanket. We cut our stay short.

A lovely cottage for a week in the Hunter
A lovely cottage within walking distance of the Wollombi village.
The cabin was beautifully appointed and everything well thought out. We had everything we needed and appreciated the small touches such as the wine and chocolate on arrival.
We will highly recommend to our friends and family and look forward to staying there again soon.
