The studio is attached to the bottom level of the main house but is a private, independent space. While it is small, it has everything you need. It is perfect for a couple to get away. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The outdoor patio is beautiful and is private (not shared) to the rest of the property. Check in process is with Bill, the host, so not contactless (just FYI). Bill was a great host. My husband and I and our two small dogs enjoyed our stay.

What a great stay. Beautiful place in Carmel. So quiet and relaxing. Really well done with all the comforts needed, especially a lot of outdoor patio space. Perfect location to enjoy downtown Carmel and the entire Monterey Peninsula. Host Bill was very informative and has the place really looking great. Thank you!

A truly unique location nestled in the heart of Carmel. I would recommend this property to anybody new to the area, the landscaping is so meticulous. The owner was extremely kind. This is a true Paradise within a Paradise.

We can’t say enough good things about this gem of a property and the wonderful owner, Bill. Additionally, the location of this property is ideal. So close to everything but tucked away enough to feel much more remote than you are. Absolutely perfect, we will definitely be back!

The studio was warm and comfortable with nice use of space. It was peaceful and private for us, and the outdoor spaces gave us a great place to relax and read, and our pups to explore and enjoy.

We enjoyed our stay so much here! The cozy cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The patio was huge and had a view of the ocean. We would’ve loved to have enjoyed sitting there with a cup of coffee in the morning but weather was cool and overcast. Can’t have everything! If we’re ever in Carmel again, we would definitely try to stay here!

This was the perfect getaway for us and our dogs. All four of us loved the outdoor space, which allowed the pups to roam in a contained environment. The grounds are spacious and lovely, with lots of places to sit and enjoy. The insides are nice, too! Well-appointed and thoughtfully designed. Snug, but just right for two adults.
This may well be our new go-to spot for weekends (and weekdays) in Carmel.

We had a nice stay. The location is convenient to shops and town as well as beach. The neighborhood is quiet. Our dog loved the little patio area. The host was prompt and helpful. There had been a billing issue which he rapidly remedied without issue. I was surprised by the final price but I am a novice to VRBO. The place was very clean, nice towels. Provided dishes, oven, lots of conveniences. Only thing I was disappointed by was no shampoo and conditioner so had to pick up myself.

Great place to stay! Beautifully decorated. Warm and welcoming with a really comfy couch and incredibly comfortable bed! Quiet, calming spaces outside as well. Glorious views! Really close to town!

So get the owner to explain it to you upon check in. Coffee and tea were provided, ziploc bags and ther supplies which was nice. Close to the ocean and not far from Carmel. The dog loved it too.

It’s rained the whole time we were here..but we had everything we needed to hunker down in comfort. Ceiling are low if and shower is a bit small. Otherwise a very unique and comfortable place.

The Tuckaway is the perfect spot to base your Carmel adventures. Conveniently located to town and nature, well appointed with all of the basics you need, and wonderful outdoor space with a view to soak in the sweet Carmel air. Bill is great.

Yes it’s even better than the pictures! Bill is a great host who will show you around your rental equipped with everything you might need. The soft bathrobes are a really nice touch! This place is very clean and cared for like no other. The outdoor area is simply spectacular in a great neighborhood. Very calming surroundings from which you can walk to close by shops, restaurants, downtown, or to the beach.

Blissful Private Carmel Retreat with KILLER Outdoors!
Can't say enough about this gem of a space. The owner Bill is attentive and helpful, which is always great. But the space itself is the real win here -- the studio is on the small side but entirely comfortable (perfect for 1 person or a couple and a pet), outfitted with ALL the essentials. About the size of a luxury hotel room, but with FAR more amenities and comfort.
But let's talk about the outdoor space. OMG. The reality is better than the pictures. Multiple seating areas, hammocks, a grill, fire pit, all behind a private gate -- and you have your own little mini-park/nature walk. Amazing if you have a dog (or even if you don't). I loved morning coffee on the far-most outdoor living room overlooking the valley. It's insane.
And it's close to EVERYTHING. You can walk to the Carmel Mission, the Mission Trail walk, and it's literally minutes from downtown Carmel, the beach, shops, restaurants, and conveniences.
I'll be coming back here, no doubt. Wildly impressed.

Great retreat in beautiful Carmel
Bill was a fantastic host and responded to any questions I had very quickly, and gave a great set of recommendations for activities, restaurants and hikes in the area. The property is immaculately maintained and very cozy. The outside space truly makes this place special, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a peaceful and relaxing spot to stay in beautiful Carmel. Thanks!

Just perfect. The multiple sitting areas through the yard to watch the sunset, sunrise, birds and clouds. You can hear the waves quietly crashing. A few blocks to downtown Carmel and Crossroads. Such a beautiful place to relax and unwind.

We had a great time at "The Tuckaway" and would definitely stay again. Bill has done a phenomenal job with his property including beautifully manicured gardens with ample areas to read, relax, meditate, or socialize. We were so busy sight seeing that we did not have as much time to enjoy the property. My only warning would be that there is no cell service. The wifi works great but if you rely on traditional texts and calls then this is not the best location to send/receive them. For us, it was nice to unplug and getaway from it all.
