L'Aide Frechu, La Fermette, is a lovely farmhouse conversion, generally well-appointed and oozing history and charm. If you're happy with discovering the local area and want to get away from it all it's great, but be aware most of the areas coastal tourist spots are an hour plus drive away. The games basement is superb with table tennis pool and darts, we spent every evening down there; it was ideal for our 16 and 20 year olds. This was fortunate because the one drawback of the place is, despite what it says in the listing, there is no wifi. Yes, there's a dongle, and, yes, it kind of, sort of works, for brief moments, but I imagine most visitors will need more than this. Vrbo's listing is misleading here; an accurate description of the wifi's capacity was only sent a couple of days before we travelled. So this added cost to our trip in mobile data bolt-ons as the wifi isn't stable enough to use the internet or social media, let alone stream even a small clip. This didn't greatly detract from our enjoyment of the stay, but it might be 'mission critical' for many. If you can live with La Fermette's 'quiet' location and technological isolation this place makes a great stay.

We had a lovely stay in Mortain. The location was easy to find as google maps sent us straight to the house even though it was off the beaten track. The house was spacious and had plenty of outside space our nearest neighbours being a field of cows. The cellar with table tennis table and pool table were a bonus as was the washing machine and dryer (also in the cellar). The beds were reasonably comfortable - the double bed being a bit on the hard side for me personally. Kitchen easy to use. It could do with a few more chopping boards but otherwise well equipped. The living room was comfortable. We couldn't get on with the WiFi dongle. If you want very good WiFi then this isn't the place for you. We had a nice meal in the hotel de la Poste and a good pizza takeaway from les Cascades in Mortain. There was a reasonably big Carrefour supermarket in Mortain. Visiting the sites (Bayeux Tapestry, Normandy Beaches, Mont-st-Michel for example) were day trips which we knew in advance, but the roads were good and not busy. Nearby attractions: The Musee due Poire in Barenton was good. We went on the cascades walk in Mortain and the La Fosse Arhour walk near Lonlay-l'Abbaye. We bought biscuits from the biscuit factory in Lonlay-l'Abbaye. Overal a lovely week.

We spent a week here in October, and it was peaceful and quiet. Property is actually larger than it appeared on the photos, with an additional toilet and bedroom that I wasn't expecting, so we were more than happy. The house was very clean, and comfortable, with everything that we could have needed, including dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The setting of the house with cows in the adjacent field made it feel very rural which is what we wanted. The nearby cycle track fantastic. Perfect place to teach my son to ride. Overall we had a great time and the property was very comfortable.

Cottage had everything needed for a home away from home holiday. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Great location with amazing dark skies. Loads of leaflets with ideas if you are new to the area.
