Friendly and efficient staff. We had breakfast in the cafe once during our stay - a worthwhile indulgence, but not enough variety to justify having every day of our stay. There is a shared lounge on entry level that is a wonderful communal space. Location was very good for us - close enough to “downtown” but we also found great local restaurants, shops and cafes. Everything else is only a bus or train ride away. The gardens at Imperial Palace are perfect for a quiet visit or a bit of exercise.

As in some other hotels, there is only one pillow on each bed, which can be uncomfortable if any neck or shoulder issues. Room was very clean, but there were some stains on carpet and soft furniture, which made it feel a bit dirty.

Although breakfast was great, it would have been even better to have more flexibility or changes day to day. Maybe add a small buffet for minor things like fruits.

Location - it’s very local and close to the imperial palace/nijo castle. And a lot local eateries.

The room wasn’t sound proof - our neighbours the first night were super rowdy and nosy. But overall property was 100/100

The ambience and design of the lobby to the room , the guest lounge were all really well designed providing a feeling of peaceful sanctuary. The room had a double bed and 2 futons for myself and 2 children. Room was spacious and bathroom was beautiful.

Nothing. I wasn't sure if there was a washing machine before we left for Japan. But the hotel had 2 and dryers.

The location is the best and the neighbourhood is very quiet and secure. Guest lounge is well decorated and comfortable. Lovely herbal touch in a contemporary way in the lounge. Lovely Japanese breakfast.

Too many stains on the carpet in the room to say it's 'clean'... WIFI signal is the weakest in the room with interruptions. Bath water temperature nob was broken when checked in. Not informed about the non-efficiency of heating system in winter because of the big window. The door is not sound-proving.

Zeer mooi ingericht hotel, op een supergoeie plek vlakbij bezienswaardigheden, restaurants en metro. Ruime kamer. We kregen een goede aanbeveling voor een restaurant.

De schoonmaak is matig (bed niet goed opgemaakt, niet alle vuil opgehaald, niet alles goed schoon). En dat lag niet aan de eco-schoonmaak filosofie. Voor het ontbijt kan je kiezen uit westers of japans, beide is afgepast en elke dag hetzelfde (we waren er 4 nachten). Er is veel personeel maar je moet het ontbijt op afroep bij de balie afhalen en terugbrengen. Nog niet eerder meegemaakt in Japan. Kiezen tussen koffie of thee of jus d’orange. Geen refills. An sich geen probleem maar het voelt wat karig.

Double Room with Tatami Area: Super lovely staff, room was decent size and bed/towels/seats all comfortable. We didn't use the bike rentals there but we could use the bike parking for free. Easy check in and out. Nice space, didn't feel like a stuffy hotel. Rooftop access was great, good location and spacious shower room.

Tiny bit on the small side for luggage but when booking you can figure that out so no major.

The location is perfect! We loved staying here and wished we had stayed longer. The location is great because the surrounding neighborhood has really great boutiques and restaurants. The Local Guide that The Share Hotels provide are actually really good and helpful - although some restaurants they recommend require a reservation that is booked out for two weeks. The design of the hotel is beautiful and the staff are super friendly. Would love to stay here again.

Very cool hotel with attention to detail. The location is also great, just around the corner is a metro station. Nearby are several bus stations as well.

Rooms are very small. We had a problem to fit our big suitcase inside the room. There was no wardrobe just 3 hangers.

Stayed in a room with a private bathroom. While the room is a lot smaller than the photos it was still good and comfortable. Not much space for 3 suitcases. Our room was located next to the main street which was very noisy at night. Heard about 3 to 4 sirens every night. Not great for a light sleeper like myself. Otherwise a great place.

Chambre style japonaise extra ! Tatami au sol et aménagement dépaysant. Accueil très chaleureux. Prête une attention particulière a l’écologie. Point apprécié! Équipements de l’établissement et de la chambre vraiment adéquat. Se situé à 2 minutes du métro qui rejoint la gare. Hôtel situé au calme mais proche des accès au lieux touristiques. Salle de bain parfaitement équipée et séparée de la chambre.

Comfortable rooms with a great bathroom and nice amenities. Location is great with plenty of food options nearby and good public transport options.

I stayed in 2009 and it was so much nicer back then. They revamped the lounge and removed the guest kitchen area and replaced it with a scent station. (?!) The amazing fried chicken restaurant has also been replaced and now has a very boring and uninviting menu. I also missed the free coffee machine! Would not stay again for these reasons.

Fabulous design, top aesthetics. Very quiet environment with excellent access to metro and bus. The tatami styled room is cozy and spacious. Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. The “school bus coffee makers” brunch that’s only a 5 minutes walk away is awesome.

If there are more restaurants nearby that’d be more convenient.

Simple but luxurious

We absolutely loved our stay at Rakuro. The location was ideal for easy bus and metro access, but out of the main tourist areas flooded with people. The hotel was clean and we loved the attention to the small details: botanical room deodorizer, the herbal tea and water bar, lounge filled with beautiful design and architected books, the quiet rooftop area to look over the city and the overall design of the hotel were our highlights. It was all so lovely that we changed our itinerary to stay a few days more.

Loved the style of this hotel, staff was very polite and helpful, room very nice. I had a great drink at their lovely lounge. They offer choice of Japanese or Western breakfast (it's not exactly western, but it's western-ish enough :-) ).

No complaints.
