Parador de Vielha

Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Great views across the valley. Breakfast was buffet style and plentiful. It was a convenient location for our road trip and there was plenty of parking.

There is an indoor pool attached to the spa so you had to pay a lot for a 2 hour session - I think about 40euros per person. The outdoor pool was closed as it was end of season, though there was a hot tub out there. The dinner choices were limited and lacked seasoning. You're out of luck if you're a vegetarian or vegan! There didn't seem to be any veg dishes on offer. Its a bit of a walk into town so if you wanted to eat elsewhere you would need to drive there.

Elegant hotel with charming old school service and amazing views. Dinner in the beautiful restaurant was very good as was the generous and varied breakfast. Everything is kept spotlessly clean.

The hotel video shows that one activity is star gazing, and one expects perfectly dark skies in such an undeveloped and mountainous location. In fact the place is floodlit on all sides making night turn to day. The building is a large modern block. The rural tranquility is shattered and it is impossible to see any stars at all. The restaurant menu was limited and the portions of food that we ordered were snack sized even though charged as main courses. The swimming pool was empty and being painted at the time, so the fresh mountain air was pungent with paint fumes on our second day.
