Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra

Perfectly located, right in the center, opposite the Porta Nigra.

The hotel is quite worn, and it is evident that it needs renovation.

La posizione è perfetta. Proprio di fronte alla Porta Nigra. Inoltre è presente il parcheggio accanto all’ingresso dell’hotel stesso. Staff molto disponibile e gentile (in particolare una ragazza che accoglie gli ospiti nella sala della colazione). Ottima la pulizia della stanza con aria condizionata. La colazione è ottima in una sala che si affaccia proprio di fronte alla Porta Nigra. Colazione varia con varianti anche vegane e bevande vegetali da richiedere al personale.

Se prendete la camera con vista Porta Nigra sarà davvero spettacolo proprio sabato a voi. Vale tutto il resto.

The location of the hotel is excellent and the parking underground with direct elevator access to the hotel is great. Beds were very comfortable and the windows - when closed - provide great sound proofing. View on Porta Nigra was superb - especially at night with lightning. It is nice you can open the windows in multiple settings. Staff was very friendly. Bedroom was nicely appointed - although a bit dated.

The terrible smells - in the hallways but especially the bathroom smell was terrible. There is a plumbing issue and that system and the bathroom urgently needs renovation. We covered the drain in the bathroom with a towel and the trashcan which helped dampen the smell somewhat. The airco does not work well and there is no precise thermostat to control the room temperature. Even though we turned it on (and it only works with windows shut which is an issue due to the above mentioned smell) we woke up due to the heat in the middle of the night. The airco system needs work too. I would not stay more than one night.
