Acorn Lodge Hotel Gatwick & Parking

Charming little hotel. Our room was clean with comfortable beds. The staff were polite and friendly. My grandson was excited to see bunkbeds, and to sleep in the top bunk for the first time. Quick and easy check in and check out. We chose this hotel as it had an early shuttle service to Gatwick airport, and an Indian restaurant on site. The food was delicious, with an excellent selection of vegetarian dishes. We all enjoyed every dish. The restaurant staff were very attentive. Great food, great service.

All 4 pillows were very firm so my daughter did not sleep well. Our ground floor family room lacked proper security. All the windows could be opened wide, but could not be locked partially open for fresh air. We could not leave any windows open for the night, particularly as we had a young child with us. The hotel is very close to a busy road and intersection with no fencing. If a window was left open, it would be easy for an intruder to climb through, or for a child to climb out and get out onto the road. The door to our room had a key to enter but you must lock it with the key when going out. We were not aware of this, so assumed the door automatically locked when we closed it. It didn't. Once inside the room, the door could only be locked by turning the small lever on the handle. Every hotel I've stayed in has always had a second lock or bolt for added security. Buffet breakfast - there were no non-dairy milks available. Savoury spreads such as peanut butter and Marmite would have been welcome, although there was a good selection of jams.

I was there for one night to enable me to catch an early flight the shuttle was great to airport
