We had room No.10 which was large and had the most comfortable bed anywhere we have stayed. The breakfasts were excellent and we had one evening meal in the restaurant which was very good as well. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

What a lovely staff crew. So kind, gave my parents an upgrade, couldn’t have been more helpful or friendlier. The hotel is beautiful and breakfast, according to my parents, was delicious.
The only thing was the stairs! My fault for not properly checking as I live locally but I thought they’d be manageable for my mum but she really struggled. I thought there might be just one flight but there were 3 sets and nothing to support mobility issues, I assume due to the age of the hotel. Completely understandable. Staff were so helpful and regularly offered to support her navigate the stairs.

Location very good. Surroundings lovely. Beautiful gardens. Staff friendly and pleasant
Breakfast and dining area in the Bar which had a view onto the kitchens. and little sunlight. Dining should have been in the lovely sunny room overlooking terrace and gardens but this seemed to be reserved for weddings and tour groups. Unfair really to other hotel guests.
Bedroom layout poor. Freestanding bath in turret area not to our taste although I can see the appeal to younger guests. No ventilation in this area and thus condensation and some damp/mould behind wallpaper peeling away at side of turret. Only one small window that opened in the whole of the room. Difficult to close curtains because of position of bath and taps and hand held shower head.
No proper dressing table. A round table was crammed into the space between bath and wardrobe. A large mirror was positioned on wardrobe door but there were no power points there (because of bath I assume) so hair drying etc difficult. Only one chair in the room so very poor seating arrangement. Nowhere to sit and relax other than the bed which was not ideal. Chandeliers badly need dusting.
Lack of storage in bathroom - a small low perspex table at side of the sink was inadequate. The glass from toothbrush holder was missing. Nowhere to put shower gel/shampoo in shower other than on the floor. Hand held shower head not working properly - seemed to be stuck on one setting.
All points were mentioned to reception on checkout who took them onboard and said action would be taken to rectify them.
