Hotel IMLAUER Wien

This place was a real mixed bag. The room was good, it was quiet, the bed was comfortable and the staff were nice. We really liked the area - there’s a great bar right downstairs and lots of good cafes and eateries around.

There were two issues with our stay. First, twice our room was entered by staff members without warning. Shortly after we checked in I returned after picking up some supplies, to find a repairman in the room - he was very nice, but we should have been told on check in that the room was awaiting repairs. The following day I was in the bathroom when I heard someone enter and then exit the room - it was one of the cleaners, who was very apologetic, but again hadn’t even knocked. There’s no way to lock the door from inside so security conscious people should be aware this is a risk. While there the shower drain blocked and a leg came off the bed - both these things were fixed quickly by the repair man so all good. The cleaning was also surface level at best. One day it included inly the bathroom, and when I asked we received clean cups. The next day was a little more thorough (e.g. the bed was straightened) but no clean sheets and the cups seemed to have been rinsed in the room sink.it seems like this hotel chain is trying to cut costs via the cleaning which is a shame as it does a disservice to an otherwise decent hotel.

Convenient location, primarily because the area around is quiet and has a residential feel, all while the Vienna old town can be reached by foot in 15 mins. The room was spacious with comfy twin beds.

The room did not have much natural light.
