Garden City Hotel, Best Western Signature Collection

Great value for a hotel in a good location, 10 minutes from everywhere. Fabulous staff, always welcoming.

Breakfast and dinner was fabulous. Could not fault the service or the rooms.

Easy driving access into the hotel property. A friendly welcome where we were allocated room 222, located on the 1st floor. The elevator was out of order & staff did offer to help with our bags, however we managed. Car parking is located out the back of the property & is free. Our room faced Jerrabomberra Ave. A queen size bed & a single. Both were comfortable. Furnishings are basic with no easy chairs, just the upright ones for the table. Coffee tea & biscuits are provided with milk in the bar fridge. Wifi is fast, but do get the Wifi code from reception as there was no info in the room. There are extra blankets which we used. The ensuite is small however the shower delivered consistent hot water. The hotel, midweek, was quiet & we slept well The hotel is located about 100m from the German Club where the food & drinks are excellent. This hotel provided no frills reasonably priced accommodation at a time in Canberra where everything was much more expensive.

The furniture is quite outdated and we had a hole in the carpet. Although our room was clean. We didn’t have any saucepans only cups, it would be good to have at least few small plates. The biggest concern it was very noisy and even very late at night the guests were laughing and speaking loudly in the foyer, slamming doors, when I checked the time it was 3.15am. We could also hear guests from next door. We had a corner room close to the lift, people going in and out all the time. We came to Canberra after a long drive and wanted to have an early relaxing night, unfortunately we couldn’t get to sleep till very late, which is disappointing especially when you travel with a child.
