Guesthouse Bon

Amazing stay! Bon-san was so hospitable and accommodating, helped us with finding places to eat at, he was there for us from the beginning to the end of our stay. Excellent service through and through, not to mention a quiet room, comfortable futon and tatami, very nice common room; everything was clean and accessible. It definitely made our stay in Kyoto even better. The fact that a cute shōten street is right around the corner (Ōmiya dōri!), and so it the Daitoku temple makes it an easy 10/10.

The guest house was very clean and organized, much better than a guest house I visited while in London.

I bonked my head on a low overhang on the stairwell, so I would have preferred more padding on that low part of the ceiling.

The location is in a quiet area that matches my expectations : local life feeling, temples near by, public onsen nearby, quiet for nights. Kazuo-san was very kind and knowledgeable. He cared for me. I am grateful to him. He could also teach me some Japanese cooking that I asked him for. The lecture I receive from him was clear, interesting and the food delicious (Katsuson). The bicycle he lent me was superuseful and in good state. Thank you Kazuo-San !

The owner is very kind and helpful in giving information about traveling in Kyoto. Very comfortable environment to chill and relax. There are many onsen nearby; unfortunately, I didn't try them out. They have their own laundry machine (it's 200yen); however, if you want fast drying, then you have to go out to the nearby laundry shop. P.S. You can hang your wet clothes inside the house.

Nighttime needs to be considerate of neighbors. Cannot be too noisy or loud because the wall is thin; it might disturb others. The street is very quiet at night, and all the shops are closed early, except a few restaurants that are still open until 10/11pm.
