Adventure Lodge and Motels and Tongariro Crossing Track Transport

I had an exceptional stay at Adventure Lodge. My trip to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing was a last‑minute decision, and I arrived at the village around 7:30 p.m. with no shuttle booked and no hiking supplies prepared. The whole area was quiet at night, and I thought I wouldn’t be able to make the hike the next day. Fortunately, I met Gillian and her family, who have been running this lodge for more than ten years and truly understand the Tongariro mountain area. They were incredibly warm, kind, and helpful. Gillian explained the entire Crossing route in detail, prepared a generous breakfast and packed lunch for me, lent me crampons, and arranged a private door‑to‑door shuttle service provided by her husband, John. Although it was still winter and not the ideal season for the hike, the weather turned out perfect—clear skies, no rain or snow, just some strong crosswinds along the ridge. Thanks to their support, I completed the whole route smoothly. It was an unforgettable experience. The soul of a hotel is its operator, and my stay here proved that once again. Adventure Lodge is not just accommodation—it’s genuine care, expertise, and hospitality. Highly recommended.

Very convenient location and provides anything we need.

Great spot, the rooms (we had to book two to fit our family of 5 in) were clean and well stocked. Lovely, friendly, and helpful staff. I had mucked up our booking and left a night off, the staff were very helpful in getting up referred to a spot next door that had availability - beauty!
