Our first stay in Fes and we could not have chosen a better place. The location is very typical of Fes and creates a hint of what the rest of the old city looks like. We were welcomed by our host Abdurrahman who picked us up personally at Fes train station. He told us about Fes and gave us tips about what to do in Fes, what to not miss out on and what to be careful with. Throughout our stay Abdurrahman was available to help us out with our questions or even just have a talk with him about life. He made us feel at home. We highly recommended this place.

It’s perfect place if you want to learn about the Medina, it’s right inside the Medina and the host is the best

The price was good value and the Riad itself was nice and seemed very authentic. The staff was warm

The room was very cold and smelled moldy. Unless your were in bed covered by 3 blankets, it was uncomfortable chilly. The entrance to our room was next to reception so we felt as if we had no privacy. We could listen to other guests every time they would be at reception so they definitely would have heard us if we hadn’t been whispering the whole time. The room was in need of a thorough clean because we found spiderwebs next to the bed. Another bad and particularly inconvenient aspect about the place was the location. It was in a very dark alleyway and we spent a good 20 minutes trying to find it. In our case the staff didn’t offer to guide us even knowing that it is hard to find. On top of that, it was a 30 minute walk away from the heart of the medina. Lastly, we found it kind of absurd that whenever you had to go out the Riad you had to tell staff how long you would be out for or send them a message with a lot of anticipation so that they could let you in again.
