So clean & comfy

Clean and comfortable apartment. The breakfast was genuinely lovely.

We arrived for the second night of a two-night booking after being evacuated from our own property in Omiš, Croatia due to a wildfire — no sleep, emergency accommodation at a stadium, then a long drive to get there. We notified the host in advance. On checkout she said she'd like to refund the missed night but that Booking.com wouldn't allow it — in what were extraordinary circumstances, I suspect more could have been done if the intent was there. But we accepted it. What we didn't expect was to be charged in full for the breakfasts — extras at around €18 each, not included in the booking. The minimum gesture would have been to comp those. Instead we were offered a discount if we returned and booked direct — somewhere she knew full well we were just passing through. It was lip service, and the breakfast bill made that clear. The words were sympathetic. The bill said something different. Don't expect warmth if things go wrong.
