The international atmosphere & hosts are quite nice, and most everything runs smoothly in a location with easy access to Ueno for a great value overall. It was a memorable, long stay.

One would hope that extra services like stovetop cooking, bathtub use, & bicycle parking which have an extra fee on the honor system did not lead to taking advantage of senior citizens.

Dirty and overcrowded

Tom and Kimiko were extremely nice and lovely and were always up for a chat. The property is quite nice and the bathrooms and toilets were clean. The room we stayed in was also quite good.

It's too many people in the guest house for 1 person cleaning only, so you find hairs all over everywhere . And people laugh scream and speak until 2am or 3am .

The showers are nice, but you have to pay extra for them. It may be ok if you stay for less than a week, but for longer stays I don’t recommend it at all. The owners are friendly, specially the lady, she’s really nice. It’s close to Akado-shogakkomae station, but be careful if you’re on a budget because you only have to take one station in that line (Nippori Toneri Liner) and then change at Nishi-Nippori, so it’s like ¥170 that you can save by walking to the station (20min walk), the station for the Chiyoda Line is also a 20min walk but in the opposite direction. There’s a 7-Eleven and some good food places in the area, which is nice.

In the room there’s only two beds, not even a shelf, and the space is so small that the suitcases didn’t even fit in. As an advice, don’t leave your suitcases outside your room even if there’s not enough space inside, people in the shared house may stole them (happened to us, and never got the suitcase back). There’s only one small kitchen for everyone in the shared house and one fridge, so people may steal your food too, not only your suitcase. They didn’t gave us the same room that we booked and they charged us more in cash (¥4,000 for one month) so that we could use the showers. There’s only one washing machine for the whole guest house, and the drier doesn’t work.

staff is absolutely amazing. Tom and Kimiko are one of a kind. you must stay here to enjoy Tom’s stories. perfect for a couple nights very cheap price

We liked the price and visiting with the host and other guests. The metro station was a 13 minute walk, and the JR train was even closer.

The room was small, and common areas were cluttered. The location is not near the city center.

The staff is very kind and friendly. We enjoyed our stay. A 7/11 and station are nearby.

I chose the location because very close to the Toneri Line, which is relative comfortable to use. The rooms are simple and cleaned regularly, the facilities are shared, but all in all good.
