Eco Villa - Sinharaja

We really enjoyed our stay here. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town, while still being in a lovely, peaceful setting. The host was lovely — very friendly, enthusiastic and incredibly helpful. He regularly takes guests on jungle treks and very kindly organised one for us at short notice, which we really appreciated. He was clearly passionate about the jungle and enthusiastic to share his knowledge with us. His son was also incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English. He gave us great advice about visiting the nearby sliding rock and even phoned a friend to check whether there was enough water after such a dry period. It turned out to be a fantastic day and one of the highlights of our stay. Their lovely family, including their adorable baby daughter, made us feel very welcome. The host’s wife cooked us a lovely evening meal, including rice grown by the family themselves. They also very kindly arranged transport to the airport for us at a good price. We really appreciated the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of the whole family and would happily recommend staying here

The room was good and the beds were fine. What makes this place special, is the proximity to Sinharaja Forest and the excellent dinners we had here. The owner is a guide in the forest reserve and can explain a lot about the flora and fauna of the area. We saw 2 snakes and many of the bird species I was looking for. We communicated beforehand and it went quick efficiently. Because we had 2 days of tours, we visited 2 different areas of the forest reserve

The Bandula and his team was friendly and helpful. The meals were plentiful and tasty. The room and washroom was clean and comfortable. The location was close to the town and very convenient.
