Welcome Apts

Our stay was amazing! Everything was being taken care of by the nice hosts. The apartment was clean and convenient, the views were beautiful and the swimming pool was well equipted. It was a great place for trips. There was also a sweet, happy kitty there :)

The location is spectacular, there is a view of these amazing mountains, which really make you appreciate the beauty of Crete. Maria was a great host, always kept us up to date with everything and made sure we had a wonderful stay. Even after arriving at the property late at night 2am, there was a wonderful member of staff waiting for us. Spectacular visit and we would definitely come back here again. We are really grateful and appreciative to the hosts.

Abbiamo alloggiato qui dal 3 all'8 Agosto 2026. Il punto di forza è sicuramente la posizione molto tranquilla, su una via poco trafficata, in un contesto di montagna/campagna, con vista sul mare e la bellissima cittadina di Georgioupoli, da cui si è lontani neanche 5 minuti d'auto. È presente un ampio parcheggio libero. La signora Maria è sempre disponibile su WhatsApp, anche se non siamo riusciti a vederla mai, e suo padre molto cordiale e gentile. Presenza di aria condizionata in camera e pulizia del cestino del bagno tutti i giorni.

Quello che su booking viene indicato come Appartamento Monolocale, è una stanza (anche abbastanza spaziosa) con bagno privato ma sprovvisto di cucina. Il nostro terrazzino era comodo ma dopo una cert'ora molto assolato e senza tende da sole e zanzariere. La pulizia è stata fatta una sola volta in 6 giorni, così come non ci sono stati più riforniti caffè, tè e zucchero che poteva essere una cosa gradita visto che nella struttura, che è abbastanza distante a piedi dal centro, non è presente un bar. Le foto della piscina, anche se molto bella, non corrispondono esattamente alla realtà e nell'area è presente una sorta di bar ma è sempre chiuso. Il cartello dice che è aperta dalle 9 alle 18 quindi noi non siamo riusciti ad usarla mai, se non l'ultimo giorno che il signore ci ha concesso una nuotata dopo le 19.

This has turned out to be my favourite destination on Crete. The past few years I've kept returning for another stay a few times a year at Welcome Apartments. I just ended up here by chance in the first place. As another guest once told me, it feels as her second home. It's always good to be back at this lovely family run place, as well as taking a stroll down to the coast. To either go for a swim in the crystal clear water down at one of the sandy beaches, or to dine at one of the restaurants on the beach front or in the centre of the really charming fishing village named Georgioupolis. Which's a village where you find fishing boats surrounding the harbour on each side of the outlet of the river. As well baskets of flowers all around the village square, and massive old eucalyptus trees growing on nearly every street corner and have done so for generations. The hotel is set about a kilometer and a half up the hillside from where you can take in the views of the surrounding landscape with olive groves, and the many hills and mountains that you have as a backdrop. It's no secret that I've already booked my next stay for the early spring time of 2026, and I'm curious to see if the plans of making a new pool area has yet been put into action. I also enjoyed the current pool area very much. The rooms I've been staying in appear as tastefully decorated. As a guest I feel taken good care of, and the Welcome Apartments is also a good starting point for making day trips to towns nearby with an ideal location between Chania and Rethymnon. Even if you don't rent a car, or bring your own car from overseas, which some do, it's still possible to easily get to Georgioupolis by bus for a few euros, from larger towns such as Chania or Rethymnon. Once you arrive in Georgioupolis, the local taxi won't cost you a fortune to getting to the apartment, unless you do as me and walk on foot from the bus stop.

There's nothing in particular about the apartment or room that I booked which I dislike. It met my expectations. However, as an advise be aware when walking the country road from the apartment, that a part of the distance to the beach or to the centre of Georgioupolis lack street lights. Within the urbanisations there are street lights. Ensure to have enough electricity on your phone to use as a flashlight if walking on foot in the dark. Be also aware that this is an apartment complex and not a hotel with a restaurant on site. Bring enough food and bottles of water with you. Alternatively you could dine in a restaurant a bit further up the hill in Exopolis a few hundred metres away, or at one of the many restaurants down in Georgioupolis, or choose a room with kitchen facilities to cook your own meals at the apartment. Although there are no food stores right next to Welcome Apartments, there's a wide range of local supermarkets/minimarkets, fruits and vegetable stores down in Georgioupolis. Keep in mind that some products might be cheaper at the larger supermarkets in the bigger towns, in case you're travelling on a tight budget. At the same time it's also nice to support the local stores.
