Sojourn Beds & Cafe

I travel a lot in dorm/hostels. This is such a wonderful venue. Definitely the best hostel that I stayed in. Fantastic decor, so interesting to explore in it's own right! You can drink a supplied coffee at an open window at street level, watch the town go by, or upstairs for a town view...then the staff even wash your cup! Location is center of town yet not too far to walk to train station. With amazing food hall right across the road, and you can walk to all city sights. Staff are perfect/wonderful/happy/polite/more. Super clean hostel. Main reason people stay here is to go to the Fishing village. The staff suggested a driver, rather than Grab! This saved me money and turned into a wonderful experience for the whole day. I couldn't be happier with t his hostel

Great value hostel, clean with a very friendly housekeeper who shared helpful recommendations for our time in Taiping. Right in the town centre. There are well-maintained common areas and two shared bathrooms between c5 rooms. There are steep stairs to all bedrooms, in case accessibility is a consideration.

Our room didn’t have a window, but we accepted that as it’s a traditional Peranakan-style building.

friendly helpful host/staff, vintage style, clean, free coffee, tea, chocolate. Microwave, fridge, nice cups, bowls, plates, cutleries. Books to read. Reasonably spacious common area with tables to eat/drink your own food, takeaway or delivery. Comfortable bed, hot shower, soft towel, bedside fan, light, power outlet. All wonderfully thoughtful. Close to local food outlets, convenience store. 10 minutes walk from Taiping train station.

Room is clean. Location is good.

Management shall establish a house rule to prevent residents from cooking in the public living room. The smell from the left over food in the trash bin is unbearable. Moreover this trash bin is placed at the entrance door to the guest house.
