B&B Talìa

The Best view in Scopello!

We really enjoyed the setting of B&B Talìa. The location is excellent, in a quieter part of Scopello, which we really appreciated, and the view from our balcony was absolutely beautiful. Our host was also extremely friendly, warm and helpful throughout our stay, including quickly providing a table and chairs for the balcony when we asked. The omelette at breakfast was also excellent.

For us, the B&B has all the ingredients to be a superb place to stay, but we felt some of the finer details of the guest experience could benefit from a little more attention. A few small things in the room made a difference: the towels were extremely rough, perhaps from being air-dried rather than tumble-dried; the water jug had a small amount of old water left in it when we arrived rather than being refreshed; and the TV was very small and there was no remote control. It would also have been helpful to receive parking information and arrival directions perhaps 24 hours before check-in. We eventually worked everything out and the guarded car park was very convenient, especially with the available discount, but we only discovered this after researching the options ourselves. Breakfast was unfortunately the biggest disappointment for us, particularly because we had been looking forward to it. Although we were asked what we would like, some of the basics felt inconsistent. The bread and cake were quite hard, on one morning there were no napkins or butter, the coffee portions were very small, and the orange juice was from a carton rather than fresh. Being in Sicily, we had perhaps expected fresh fruit and a slightly more generous, fresh breakfast experience. In the end, we went to a local café for breakfast each morning. The only genuinely uncomfortable moment was when we went onto the terrace where breakfast had been served and were shouted at by the co-owners of the villa for being there. We had no idea that guests were not allowed to use that area outside breakfast times, so clearer information from the B&B about which spaces are available to guests would avoid this happening in future. Similarly, the house information on the back of the door was only in Italian, so an English version would be very useful for international guests.
