Hostal Nicolás

Anna is a wonderful host. She was flexible about the arrival time. The accommodation is basic, but functional. We broke a long drive from one end of Spain to another at this Hostel and took the opportunity to explore the charming old town up on the hill. It has Roman remains, vestiges of its time as an important Moorish stronghold and some fine medieval buildings. The hostel is in the modern town in the valley and that gives visitors an opportunity to witness first hand the depopulation of rural Spain.

The WIFI reception in our room was poor. My mattress was an old fashioned spring mattress and I felt one spring in particular just at the height of my hip.

The property is a few minutes from the A-2 motorway, so easy access by car. It is also well placed for a good walk around the edge of the town. A good description would be "basic but clean".

This is an accomodation-only property. There are 2 bar / restaurant places within 3 minutes walk, and a small supermarket opposite. But from Saturday late afternoon until Tuesday (all day), they all close at various times. This means it is essential to plan carefully what you are going to eat, and where it will come from.
