An absolutely exceptional stay with wonderful staff! The Wineyard was an absolute dream and one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The peaceful, relaxing atmosphere that the hotel advertises is exactly what we experienced on our first day. After spending time in Lisbon, it was wonderful to arrive here and simply relax and unwind. The entire team was absolutely fantastic — incredibly friendly, warm, attentive and accommodating. We felt genuinely welcomed and very well taken care of throughout our stay. We would also especially like to mention the massage therapist. She was incredibly lovely, warm and professional — just like the entire team

Unfortunately, the magic of the property was completely disrupted on our second day by a large group, presumably a wedding party. The hotel specifically promotes itself as a peaceful place to relax and disconnect, which was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here. And on the first day, we were able to enjoy exactly that. However, on the second day, the atmosphere changed completely because of the group and the noise they created. The restaurant became extremely loud in the evening, with people talking and celebrating very loudly, and the atmosphere became increasingly uncomfortable due to the amount of alcohol being consumed. There was also a bathroom on our floor where there was repeated loud banging throughout the evening. When we eventually went to have a look, water was running and the floor was left in a very messy condition. Overall, it simply became too much for us. We actually ended up leaving our dinner early because the situation no longer matched the peaceful experience we had booked and expected. This was particularly disappointing because it was such a contrast to the wonderful experience we had on our first day. Our suggestion for improvement: If the hotel hosts a large private event or group celebration of this kind, we would strongly recommend making the property exclusive to that group, or at least ensuring that other guests are sufficiently separated from the event. For a property whose main appeal is peace, tranquillity and relaxation, an event like this can completely take away the magic and atmosphere for the other guests. Despite this, our overall impression remains very positive, especially because of the beautiful property and the exceptionally warm and wonderful team.

Absolutely stunning location. Quiet and beautiful location in the middle of the vineyards. Welcome drink based on sweet Muscatel produced nearby. Well trained, polite and high standard presenting personnel. Marvellous ambience and views. Breakfast on the porch with my Wife. This memory stays with me for long.

All was fine. No remarks except the price of the stay itself which is challenging.

The location was really nice and the arrival stunning down a 150m driveway towards the low whitewashed buildings surrounded by vineyards. The hotel employees were very friendly.

We had booked the hotel as part of our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations and advised the hotel a few weeks prior to arrival. We received a note from the hotel thanking us for choosing Hotel Casa Palmela for such an important occasion and how much they looked forward to welcoming us. On arrival I was wished “Happy Birthday?!” We were assigned a standard room. No sign of an amenity ( aside from two dried up cookies ) and a welcome note that said “Dear Guest”……. The hotel is small, how many arrivals do they have?…….why no Dear Mr & Mrs B…… We booked dinner at the hotel restaurant a week ahead and received a message from the hotel the day prior to arrival advising us to book their restaurant……a little worrying? At dinner nobody knew that it was our wedding anniversary, the food was ok, presentation quite ordinary and prices quite high. Breakfast was good and the employees very friendly and welcoming. Check out was a non event. Nobody asked us about our stay. On the day of check in the online rate was €100.00 per night less than the rate we had paid. Rate fluctuations are expected but not over 70 % more! The hotel has an amazing history apparently but we never received any such information. Nothing in the room ( apart from horse riding lessons). There is a spa ( no information ) there are walks through the vineyards ( no information ). The hotel is surrounded by vineyards but they do not make their own wine. Apparently they belong to the Fonseca winery, their vineyard is close by ( no information ) This hotel is part of “ Small luxury hotels of the world”. They are very lucky to be included as our stay was very underwhelming and the lack of attention to detail is frightening!
