Hotel Bocciolo

The location is fantastic. Sure it’s up a steep hill from the road, but the view from the dining terrace over the lake is gorgeous. There is parking for about a dozen cars outside the hotel but this also garage parking. How big I don’t know as didn’t use it. We visited in September and there was always enough space. We really liked the food - breakfast was excellent with a good variety of foods and superb cake! In the evening we dined on the terrace with that outstanding view and had good pizza both times. My husband is plant based and the menu was limited for him aside from pizza, but no more limited than elsewhere in Italy. The bed was very comfortable and the room clean. The shower could have done with a deep clean and new grouting possibly, but otherwise was fine. We liked having our own patio space with outside table and chairs We liked that the hotel was only a 25 minute walk /6 minutes cycle ( we had our own bikes) to Orta San Giulio and Piazza Motta from where the boats depart to go to the island.The garden area with Sun loungers is relaxing and has a great view over the lake. The young blond woman on the reception desk was outstanding. Her command of English was exceptionally good and she was extremely helpful and friendly. She’s a real credit to the hotel.

The steep hill up to the hotel from the road, although worth it for the view from the top. Some of the music played during dinner was an interesting choice - 1990s pop and rock such as Oasis and Blur, while at breakfast we heard more mellow music more suited to the evening such as Peggy Lee and smooth jazz. Given the average older age of the clientele, I’d have thought the Peggy Lee end of the spectrum would appeal more.

Very comfortable room with a spacious terrace and a fabulous view of the lake ! The buffet breakfast was amazing … we needed no lunch !

The jacuzzi was noisy .. we asked the staff to switch it off but although they were very willing , this couldn’t be sorted out . We were given to understand that the walk to the town was short and easy but the distance was quite long and up a steep and busy road . Consequently we had to drive in . It was a bit disappointing that the hotel was used for big ( and some very noisy!) events and also for coach parties descending en masse !

la struttura in generale e' asettica, super banale, senza personalita'. ll terrazzo della suite lungo e stretto senza un senso...e ZERO privacy con le camera a fianco, totalmente aperte senza un divisiorio reale. Il prezzo era da suite ma NON era affato una suite !
