Lankavatara Ocean Retreat & Spa

From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed. The reception staff were warm and friendly, and we were delighted to receive an upgrade from the lowest room category to the best category without even asking. We highly appreciated that surprise to us! Our room was spacious, modern, and beautifully designed, with a huge bathroom offering plenty of space for all our amenities. The private terrace, furnished with sun loungers and comfortable chairs, provided a great view. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the Wi-Fi was reliable, and complimentary water was provided. The entire hotel is exceptionally well maintained, especially the beautiful pool area. There were plenty of sun loungers (20) with umbrellas, as well as comfortable daybeds (5) - for almost reach room one pair, making it the perfect place to relax. The atmosphere throughout the property was stylish and welcoming, with a fantastic sea view. The beach is only about 100 metres away. Breakfast was excellent, and dinner was equally enjoyable, especially the freshly prepared curry. The waiters are super friendly and we loved to have a chat with them. The food and drinks were reasonably priced, offering outstanding value for money. What truly made this hotel special, however, was the incredible staff. Everyone was exceptionally helpful, friendly, and attentive. They even helped us pay for a tuk-tuk when we did not have the correct change, trusting us without hesitation. They also proactively offered to help us get change whenever needed. These thoughtful gestures demonstrated genuine hospitality and made a real difference. This hotel offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio. The entire room is very well maintained looking almost new. Excellent rooms, beautiful surroundings, delicious food, a relaxing pool area, and truly outstanding staff make it a place we would happily recommend to other travellers.

Beautiful views from the ocean view room. The rooms had a great amount of lighting, from ambient ones behind the bed and reading lights to proper lights, it was nice to have a variety and sit in bed comfortably. The pool had a deeper end which was great and it was pretty warm everyday. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond for us. We’re vegan, and there was nothing vegan on the menu but they still managed to make us hoppers, pancakes for breakfast and come up with something for dinner. They even ordered in Soy milk that we could have with our drinks. Everyone is so friendly and ready to help with quick responses. While the hotel is beautiful, the service alone would make us come back.

The beach isn’t for swimming. It might have been the season, but the waves are huge and currents are strong. It’s also a little bit far from most things, with around half an hour drive to nearby famous beaches such as Hiriketiya, but taxis are cheap so it wasn’t a huge problem. The safaris are also closer from here than Tangalle so it depends on what your goals are.

Everything, we were upgraded to a great room on corner with huge balcony. Staff were super. They were constantly cleaning. Great location and beach fantastic. Wish we had stayed longer. Nothing was too much trouble

Nothing to dislike

We had such a great experience we made our way back for another weekend. The staff was amazing, they remembered us and treated us so well :) the place is amazing with the best view! Such a relaxing and fun experience! Highly recommended!
