We loved staying here! We saw just as much wildlife compared to our hikes in the national parks, if not more, during our stay here. Leslie and his family are very kind, friendly, and just plain nice to talk with. I’m not sure why some of the previous reviews mention that the breakfast is not good? It comes with fresh fruit, coffee/tee and fresh juice, and a full plate of food (typical Costa Rican or American). Very yummy and was more than enough food for breakfast. We would definitely recommend staying here and would do so again ourselves in a heartbeat.

Great place! Very friendly host. The owner Leslie is wonderful person. We saw many wild animals there. Tucan came during breakfast!

Nice people, cool location.

A great location, very hidden and in the heart of the jungle. We loved seeing all the hummingbirds, monkeys, toucans and agoutis. We got great advice of where to visit and shuttles were organised for us to Santa Elena and also the Santa Catarina night walk. Breakfast was delicious and our room was comfortable.
It is in a hilly location, which might not suit some people as you need to walk up and down a lot of hills to get to shops, restaurants, bars, etc..

We loved staying here. It’s a beautiful setting. I’d happily live in this location. We loved it.

The property is a bit far from the centre of the town. Breakfast is good. The place is beautiful in the midst of nature.

Spacious room, nice bathroom (looked quite new). Nicely situated on the outskirt of Santa Elena but in walking distance to the town center. Yummy breakfast.

Very quiet location surrounded by trees and nature. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and accommodate our needs.

Lovely big room overlooking the forest. Over our 4 nights here, we saw monkeys, coati and some nice birds eg blue crowned motmot right outside our room. The owner also showed us some creatures at night eg a very small and very poisonous snake coiled up in a plant. There were 3 nice restaurants within walking distance, we liked Thomas and Thigo the best! The owner booked a shuttle bus to Santa Elena forest for 6 dollars return. A great trip.
We arrived after dark with Interbus shuttle bus and needed to walk down a path in the dark to our room - there were some lights but I was surprised that it was away from the main block. It was very windy and sometimes there was a fine drizzle so walking along the rough roads to the restaurants in the dark required appropriate clothing and a torch! We were cold especially at night, despite asking for an extra blanket. We had trouble paying with our Halifax credit card for some strange reason - it has been fine everywhere else in Costa Rica!

you can use their kitchen to cook yourself
it is clean
we had a room on the ground floor with very little light

The room was very comfortable and big, lovely breakfast, very friendly and helpful people! The owner gave us a lot of tips and helped arrange the zip lining. We even saw a few white faced monkeys in the trees around the property
It’s a short drive (5 min) or 20 min walk (uphill/downhill) to the village centre and most restaurants. Not the worst, just good to keep in mind. There’s a few restaurants close by but we were also in low season so the closest one was closed.

Amazing location, stunning surroundings. Walkable to some local bars and restaurants and also just a short cab ride into Santa Elena. The owner was warm and friendly and even let us view some toucans through his telescope. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Property was located in the secondary forest. Leslie and his wife were very gracious and helped spot loads of animals near the property! Breakfast was delicious (good pancakes)!
Room was a touch musty. Most of this has to do with the extremely wet climate and isn’t necessarily a fault of the property.

Leslie is really nice and helpful, giving us advice on tours and taking the time to show us the abundant wildlife living around his estate. We had some trouble with an atm machine, Leslie drove us to the bank and assisted us with communications. We loved the breakfast of pancakes and fluffy eggs.
Nothing..

beautifully situated
we received a warm welcome from Lesley- the
owner
it felt like it was all getting a little bit run down
but this was partly due to the dampness in the
mountains

Fantastic breakfast, best rice and peas I have had! Amazing wildlife and Leslie the owner will point out the most amazing sights of rare birds, he is very knowledgeable. Also helpful booking trips.
Quite a walk out of town, half hour. No hangers or wash line for wet clothes which we really needed. No food and drink available at hotel apart from breakfast. A fan in the room would have been great too.

Wonderful location - perfect for spotting wildlife - during our stay we saw a variety of birds (no toucans sadly although we heard them!), howler monkeys and a whole family of white faced monkeys who came to say Hi! Delicious breakfast each morning. Leslie was very helpful and organised a great night tour for us. Lots of good places to eat nearby.
We requested two singles and a double bed but we’re given a room with two doubles.

Family run hotel. perfect location. wonderful staff.

So glad we stayed here. Our rooms were very clean, comfy beds and lovely balconies to spot wildlife from. The double room we had was well equipped with fridge, fantastic views (including from the bathroom) and the bottle of wine was a nice touch.
The breakfast was delicious. The owners were very friendly and were fantastic at helping us to spot wildlife in the garden. We actually saw more animals and birds here than we did in the cloud forest. Spending an afternoon in the garden watching the monkies, birds and the grey foxes was one of the best highlights of our holiday in Costa Rica. We would definatly recomend staying here.
There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this place.

Super friendly and welcoming. We had a great stay. They helped us book our tours and made a lot of things easy for us. Our room was a suite and it was amazing! The property was too and perfect for wondering around, or just laying back and taking it all in.

This may be the best place we stayed over our two weeks in CR. The room views are incredible and we saw birds and monkeys while staying here. The breakfast was delicious and Leslie the owner was very nice and helpful. The location is walking distance to a few restaurants and we took shuttles to the other activities. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and you cannot beat the views.

Nice host who was really helpful organising tours. We saw a surprising amount of animals. 15 minutes walk to the main bus station.

the view, being in the middle of the jungle, lot of wildlife around the property (monkeys)
insects in the room but this is Costa Rica

great location, might be a little far for some travelers but our family enjoyed the walk into town for shopping and dinner
our room smelled strongly of ammonia cleaning product

Fabulous. Super friendly hosts, freshly prepared breakfast. We saw monkeys, grey fox, beautiful birds. Comfortable beds, wonderful balcony. Amazing environment, nice restaurants walking distance. Suberb advice on where (not) to go. Very nice small family business.
Bring repellent: the room had no insect screens. Humility felt in room (as at most places in cloud forest)

very good breakfast and family-run property, helpful hosts, showed us toucans through telescope.
the listing specifically mentions kitchen and kit here and there are not these facilities for guests. not tumble dryer. this is misleading, and why I had originally booked this place.

Breakfast was amazing, the room was clean, the property is in a great location. The couple that owns the hotel are very friendly and there are animals including monkeys that come to the property.
The toilet was not working properly and since they are on some sort of septic, all of the TP has to be put in a garbage can. The signage to find the property is not clear and I got lost on the way.

We received great tips about activities in the area and got a free upgrade. The owner also lured a grey fox to the patio of the B&B which comes by for his daily share of bananas. Great value for money.
