A differenza di molte case in Idyllwild che sono completamente incastonate tra i pini, il Dome è arroccato sul bordo di Crestview Drive e offre panorami sull'oceano nei giorni più limpidi, ed è recentemente ristrutturato! The Dome copre oltre 1,5 ettari di terreno. Guarda il tramonto ogni sera dalla vasca calda a vapore o dal ponte adiacente, mangia fuori o dentro o coccola davanti a uno o tutti i tre camini interni disposti al largo del camino centrale in pietra lavica. Il soggiorno ha un vertiginoso soffitto di 26 piedi che racchiude un terzo della cupola. La casa è costruita adiacente a una formazione rocciosa alta 40 piedi che ha ciotole di ghiande native americane scavate nella roccia nel punto più alto con le migliori viste sulla valle sottostante. We got switched to The Dome upon arrival (issue with the cabin we had reserved). The Dome is at the end of a cul-de-sac but quite isolated with amazing views at sunset. The hot tub is located away from the house, up a few flights of stairs to yield a tremendous view. Do this at sunset and you won't be disappointed at all. There could be slightly better lighting near the hot tub to aid in a nighttime session (quite dark otherwise). The main heater in the large living area was a bit temperamental but there are several space heaters throughout the house to keep rooms warm. The house is very well equipped, you'll lack for nothing, although they could use a real deal BBQ.

We stayed for 4 days in the early spring -- cold nights, but the home has blankets and heaters and we had no problem keeping warm. The entire place was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed plus more. Towels and toilet paper were plentiful and easy to find. Plenty of space and entertainment for our kids. The house has an amazing view of the area and was located close to town and multiple trails and parks for exploring. Idyllwild is a charming community and a relaxing vacation. New Spirt Homes was wonderful to work with -- quick to answer any questions and seemingly always available. I will definitely use them again (they seem to run many of rentals in the area)

We enjoyed this house - the unique design and gorgeous views were the highlights! The house is very comfortably set up; we were particularly impressed by the well-stocked kitchen. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy the scenery as well. The location of the hot tub is amazing!
We couldn’t get the living room TV to work, unfortunately.

We enjoyed our time here. The Dome is iconic and thoughtfully planned with comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy the majestic views of Idyllwild from the comfort of your residence. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked, nice selection of board games and movies, and the internet was fast and reliable. We enjoyed each of the several patios depending on the time of day and activity (food vs. relaxation). It’s hard to describe how well placed it is— you get beautiful views of Idyllwild all around the property. The sunrise and sunset across the valley are beautiful. 🌅
It is also quite central, near all the necessary amenities and trails. Really great location for exploring Idyllwild from.
The property does get very warm however as the sun is hitting it from all sides. There is a portable A/C unit that we were able to pull out of the closet and it did a pretty good job keeping the main living space reasonably cool, but it never got above 85F when we were there. I'd imagine that in the dead of summer the little guy might not keep up. There was a nice breeze in the evening that helped bring down the temp, but did not reach the bedrooms upstairs.
Also the beds were very uncomfortable, most of the beds sag to the middle making it especially difficult to sleep with a significant other. We had a pretty hard time sleeping well to be honest so that made it much harder to enjoy ourselves.
A few other things to be aware of:
1. The walls are paper thin, and the dome shape enables noise to travel easily making it also hard to sleep. One if the bedrooms is actually a loft, which was the worst.
2. The windows are not private, even the bedroom and bathroom windows have no curtains.
3. For the upstairs bathroom, the lock works but the door can be pushed open anyway.
4. The upper patio table wobbles by 3-4” hard to have a meal on it.
5. Driveway is very very steep! More easily approached from the right, but a loaded car will still have trouble going up. Plenty of space to park at the top though.

I have nothing but great things to say about this rental. I took my husband for his birthday weekend along with our great friends. The view was astonishing and just breathtaking. It is a big house with plenty of beds we Also rented the additional bungalow so plenty of room for about 14-16 people. It had everything you need. Well stocked with towels, toiletries. The jacuzzi was ready to go when I let them know I was going to use it. Monica the manager was very responsive which is a big plus. The location is great. It is close to the village with so many things to do. I could not have been happier. Great rental.

We had a good time at the dome house. Beautiful views. The driveway, stairs, and hot tub area (more stairs up from the house) are not for the faint of heart, and we don't recommend for elderly guests. Approach driveway from Hide-A Ln (better angle, see google maps). It was clean, but needs a good spring cleaning (such as spider webs near the skylights). Neighbors are serious about 10 pm quiet time, even on weekends, which we understand as sound travels easily (inside an out of the house).

We arrived in Idyllwild just as the roads got very slick from snow and ice, so be sure to have a great set of chains or 4 wheel drive during the winter months as The Dome is uphill! The views are remarkable, especially from the hot tub! The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need for cooking. This was a great house for 3 families that love playing board games and hanging out together! Be prepared for togetherness as sound in The Dome carries! The folks at New Spirit Vacation Homes were very helpful!

My friends and I celebrated my 31st birthday at The Dome during the first weekend of December. We couldn't have asked for a better retreat where we could cozy up and play games, use the hottub, and take in some much needed r&r. To say this cabin was the definition of relaxation would be an understatement. It also had everything we needed to cook our meals and make ourselves at home. We all agreed we will make an annual trip up to Idyllwild and wouldn't think of staying elsewhere.

We had a really nice time here. It's very peaceful and the view is beautiful. Great kitchen, lovely hot tub area, and there was plenty of space for 8 people+1 dog. Like the other reviews mentioned, when it's warm definitely bring along a bunch of fans to cool down the space. There is one A/C unit but it's not enough to cool down the whole dome. We had issues with the unit for the first day but they came out and fixed it. Thank you, I look forward to returning again.

Like the other reviews mentioned, when it's warm definitely bring along a bunch of fans to cool down the space. There is one A/C unit but it's not enough to cool down the whole dome. We had issues with the unit for the first day but they came out and fixed it. Thank you, I look forward to returning again.

Had a wonderful time in The Dome. Spacious and amazing views. Some areas are aged and could use some tough ups but exceptionally well stocked and the views and location greatly outweigh any deficiencies in up keep! Fully enjoyed our stay

The location and view were perfect but it’s better to be there when the weather is cooler. We were there in late May.

Such a lovely spot with a magical feel to it! The walkways are steep and rough I would be worried bringing kids or elderly people here but it was amazing for us!
