Beautiful setting and beautiful home! Plenty of space for the five of us. We had a wonderful time!

The cabin was very comfortable and suited our needs for the family weekend. The only problem we had is that the hot water only lasted for two people to take a shower, and we had 5. Otherwise it was a great place to stay. Check in very easy, owner responded to our emails right away. We liked that quiet area and also the fire ring that the family sat around and enjoyed.

All amenities were there and easily accessible

This was our 3rd time staying here in the last 4 years. As perfect a place for us as the last 2 times. Awesome place with something for everyone. We utilized the bonfire area each night and used the kayaks a ton. We had perfect weather and did a winery day as well with so many close by. The property owners here are amazing and neighbors are super friendly. We will absolutely be back!!

Pros: Quiet, peaceful, pond with catfish we could feed, spacious living area, comfortable beds, patio area with BBQ grills. Cons: Cabin had not been cleaned when we arrived and had to wait a couple hours before it was cleaned, only 4 washcloths for 5 people for the entire weekend, exterior needs a power wash-many spider webs, dirty, animal droppings, etc., we encountered many spiders, bugs, etc in the cabin.

The cabin was very rustic and in a serene environment. Kitchen and sitting area accommodated us nicely. A few downsides - cabin was musty, rather outdated and beds were not the best. The contact person, Tami, was very quick at responding to questions and concerns. There is plenty to do in Washington and we thoroughly enjoyed Wine Creek Winery. If you're looking for something fancy this is not for you. However, if you're looking for a peaceful country setting you'll enjoy this rental.

We enjoyed a long weekend relaxing at the cabin. There is plenty of space to hang out, play games and dine together. Our grandchildren spent hours kayaking on the pond and enjoyed feeding the fish. We enjoyed local restaurants and sight seeing all within a short drive.

The property’s was amazing. Loved the history of the property. The grand babies loved feeding the fish. We will definitely return.

We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin! Far enough away from everyone but close at the same time. Very enjoyable and my kids and dogs had a great time! We definitely didnt get to stay long enough but will be returning for a longer stay next year. We will for sure be making this our vacation spot from now on!! There are a few photos not accurate such as the kitchen seating, and patio furniture/ bedroom decorations but this place was perfect in many ways. If you nit pik enough as with anything flaw bwill be found, but thats what makes it rustic and authentic. 😀 the property owner is such an awesome person as well, alwaulys quick to reply and very helpful!!

I think we are regulars now at this property! Its a great spot for centering and refocusing. The lake is perfect for swimming and kayaking. The kitchen is stocked with utensils and a few staples in case you forget something. The outdoor spaces are great for gathering and enjoying the view. We try to come every summer when we can. Thanks for sharing this beautiful space!

Loved the location! Less than an hour from St Louis and still felt off in the woods by ourselves. Kids loved the kayaks and feeding the fish. I loved the charcoal grill and fire pit. Cabin was spacious and there was wildlife all around. Really enjoyed sitting on the porch overlooking the pond each morning. A relaxing getaway

NEGATIVES *Authentic log cabin has dusty logs. *Refrigerator was dirty and had to be cleaned. *Old pots and skillets. *Refrigerator leaked onto the floor. Bottom shelf of the freezer froze items in several inches of water. *No closet or mirror in the master bedroom. *Master ‘Jack & Jill’ bathroom was the main bathroom. *No true hot water. *AC thermostat did not work properly. *Upstairs was warm with only a window unit. *Had to buy our own TP, paper towels & trash bags. *Master bedroom had pet hair on chair. *Wasps in and around the house. *Mice droppings in kitchen drawers. *Grill badly rusted. *No real yard area for playing outdoor games. *Limited cell service. CONCLUSION We enjoyed many things, but there were many disconcerting issues. There were probably issues to us that may not be to others or issues that will be resolved in time for future guests. Read all of the reviews even from years past and take them to heart. You will then know if if this is a cabin for you.

Cabin is rustic but with modern amenities. The perfect place to relax after a long day of tasting local wine.

The location and the house itself was beautiful. The house is very cozy, the remotes to the TVs do not work... we could only get the tv to turn on and off and not change the channel. The beds were extremely uncomfortable but besides that it was fine. Getting ahold of the property manager/owner is very difficult. She takes a long time to respond and thankfully we didn't have any issues where we needed a response right away.

It was lovely to stay here and get away and write with some friends.

The cabin was so nice. Very quiet and relaxing. Would definitely recommend staying there for a close relaxing getaway.

The cabin cozy but spacious at the same time. Location was peaceful and pleasing to the eye.It was very nice to come back to after a day spent at the Wurstfest in Hermann. Even the drive to and from the festival.was beautiful.

This was our second stay at this cabin, and it was wonderful yet again. The property is beautiful and could easily accommodate my family of five with room to spare for quiet time. The host is quick to respond and very friendly. The two kayaks provided by the host are a great way to keep kids of all ages entertained, and we really enjoyed evening camp fires in the backyard. We also enjoyed exploring around the property, and there is a nice playground five minutes away by car if kiddos want something extra. We are not very outdoorsy people, so we love that this cabin has all of the comforts of our home, but still allows us to enjoy nature. Mathasville is a nice little town, but there is not much to do there with kids if the weather is bad, so keep that in mind when planning your stay. All in all, we really enjoyed our time there and will plan to go back again next year.

Has an awesome stay! The cabin is so cute, enjoyed the decor, feeding the fish in the pond & the firepit! We had a family get away with 87 year old mom - very accessible for her walker and she loved looking at the water and the big table that fit everyone to play games! Will definitely stay there again.

It was just what the doctor ordered, quiet and relaxing

We had a great time. The cabin was perfectly located for all of the activities we wanted to do. The large table worked great for both meals and games. The drive way is a little small and difficult to get turned around in but we made it work. We had a wonderful week.

We booked this to have our small family Christmas this year. After a rough year this was exactly what we needed. Highly recommend if your party is around 10 people. Fun for everyone.

My three adult sons and I stayed at this property for two nights to begin our family get together. We loved the home and property. Everything was perfect. The home is clean, very roomy, homey and beautifully decorated. We connected my laptop to the Livingroom TV via an HDMI cable for entertainment. The Wi-Fi is sufficient, but no cellular bars are available. It's too bad the weather was so cold, but we still enjoyed feeding the fish and walking around the pond. We enjoyed an afternoon shopping around the cute town of Washington and then dinner at the The Tilted Skillet. We'll definitely stay here again!

We loved having Thanksgiving here with our family. We also celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. The space is large with most pots and pans needed for cooking large meals. We also used the lovely fire pit We would love to come again.

Situated in a quiet rural neighborhood, this home has a large kitchen and four nice size bedrooms that worked perfectly for our annual sisters weekend. The entire area is beautiful and this home was located in a great spot for day trips. The firepit and pond were great backdrops for relaxing and catching up in the evenings.

Clean and quiet. Feeding the fish was really fun. The only thing I would like to see is some lighting towards the fire pit.
