Klinakis Beach Hotel

Comfy beds, nice view and very friendly staff at the hotel. We enjoyed the very good breakfast. It was really nice to have new towels every day - both towels for the room and beach towels. The hotel is located in a quiet place, and we enjoyed listening to the waves coming in to the beach just below our room The hotel offers drinks and meals in the restaurant to very good quality

it is hard to define the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel until you experience it. This is a great hotel. I came back to Chania early from the south (which I loved) to experience it again. It has worked out how to make guests comfortable and takes delight in doing so. The views, sunrises and and sunsets are stunning. Pick a room with a sea view if you can. If you cannot, sit on the terrace or in the bar restaurant area and enjoy the sea views from there. Sea, coastline, and big skies. It is a pleasant half an hour coast walk from the heart of the Old Town (you can reach the centre in 20 mins if you do not go along the coast). You are right on the sea. You can swim in front of the hotel or to the right (heading into town) you have the lively Nea Chora beach, with all the restaurants and beach furniture you could desire, not to mention Pilates on paddleboards (excellent), to the left a long blue flag beach, parts of which you can have to yourself. Heading out of town you can meander from beach to beach - some lively, some deserted coves. It is clean, spacious and calm. Crisp white sheets and soft towels. A safe big enough for a laptop. The olive oil toiletries were a lovely touch, as were wooden coathangers, a kettle and a spacious fridge. There is a cupboard downstairs where you can get glasses and cups. One of the rooms I stayed in had an iron and ironing board. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious - with traditional Greek dishes such as a spinach pie and super warm salads as well as cereals, fruits, cold platters, eggs and pastries. I did not eat at the hotel but if the breakfast is anything to go by the food will be great, and people seemed to be enjoying a range of cocktails. Bathtowels etc are provided for the beach. There are two little supermarkets in road behind the hotel selling everything from food to sunglasses, as well as a little snack bar.

I liked it all but if you want to be right in the middle of town it won't be for you. It isn't flashy; it doesn't need to be but if flashy is your thing it probably isn't for you either. There was no desk in the room I stayed in but it did not matter because I could use the table on the balcony.
