Lake Point Motel

We were in Hamilton for Equifest at Claudlands Park. The park was a convenient 10 minute drive from the motel, which was perfect. The young lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and large, and had two comfortable king sized beds. It was also lovely and clean throughout. The bathroom was large and the shower was amazing - lots of hot water and good pressure, although there was no extractor fan so you had to leave the window open afterwards to clear the steam. They even changed our towels and made our beds on the second day which we didn't expect, since we were only staying two nights. There was a small fridge, microwave and kitchen sink which was useful.

The motel is a little tired and dated and couldn't be described as pretty, but was certainly fine for a weekend stay. There was nobody on reception when we arrived about 3pm, so we had to call the motel's number to get checked in. The young lady was on the property though, so it didn't take her long to come and serve us. When I paid for the room, she couldn't tell me if there was a fee for using a credit card or not and there was no signage in the office anywhere which was a little annoying, as I had to pay with my debit card instead rather than risk additional costs. Then the key to our room didn't work, so we had to call her again to get her to come back. The second key she gave us also didn't work, and the locksmith was unavailable, so we had to wait while she found a third key. This was awkward to turn, but did work finally, so we could lock up and get on with our break. The weirdest thing though, was that the sheets on the king sized beds were not large enough, and didn't go down to the bottom of the mattress! So the bottom foot of the mattress had no sheet on! This mean that your feet were on the towling mattress topper all night which was a little gross (thinking about all whose other feet that had been on it before!) and was also uncomfortable as your feet kept getting tangled in the bottom of the sheet. So I would suggest NOT booking the king rooms. I'm sure queen beds would be fine though. There is also no allocated parking for the upstairs units, only for the downstairs units. We had to park in the check in bays at the entrance of the motel. This thankfully wasn't too far away from our room, but other upstairs rooms further down the hill would need to lug their luggage up and down a fairly steep hill.
