Great location and friendly staff

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo hotel durante il nostro viaggio ad Amsterdam e nel complesso ci siamo trovati bene. Avevamo prenotato una stanza matrimoniale, ma con nostra sorpresa ci è stata assegnata una camera quadrupla, cosa che abbiamo apprezzato molto perché era decisamente più spaziosa del previsto. Il receptionist è stato davvero super gentile e disponibile, soprattutto perché ci ha permesso di fare il check-in prima delle 15, cosa che abbiamo apprezzato tantissimo dopo il viaggio.

La posizione è ottima, in piena zona viva e centrale, con pub e locali sotto l’hotel, quindi perfetta per vivere l’atmosfera tipica di Amsterdam. Ovviamente di notte si sentivano un po’ di rumori, ma è assolutamente comprensibile considerando la zona. L’edificio era un po’ storto, ma anche questo fa parte del fascino tipico delle case di Amsterdam. Ci sono però alcuni aspetti da migliorare: la pulizia della stanza non era impeccabile e uno degli asciugamani aveva addirittura un buco di sigaretta. Nulla di gravissimo, ma sono dettagli che fanno la differenza.

We loved our room on the upper floor with a beautiful view of the canal! Despite having a room with a shared bathroom we appreciated that our room had its own individual sink for brushing teeth, water, etc. The location was perfect right at the corner of a lively square with lots or bars, restaurants and pubs. Although it is loud due to the location we did not mind the noise.

The only thing that we did not particularly like was the thin and steep staircase that we had to take to get to our room and the washroom. However, we were prepared for this as the listing was very clear about the steep steps, and once we did them a few times we didn't mind them.

Okay so location is amazing. We didn’t even take the tram, we walked everywhere since it was all in a 25 min walking distance max. The view of the canal was the selling feature for us booking here. It’s gorgeous. The room had its own basin which was also really convenient. It also wasn’t overly loud, you can hear the nightlife, but we were on the 3rd and when you closed the window shut, it was quiet. We felt safe and the staff let us check in early and keep our luggage late after checkout.

Alright so keep in mind, we were on a budget which is why we choose this stay over a cleaner hostel. However, the bathroom situation is a nightmare. Don’t be prepared to have clean sheets, mine had cigarettes burns and stains in them, BUT, no bed bugs. When we came home sometimes, the smell of the hotel was atrocious. Also the stairs are treacherous, don’t bring a 50lb xl luggage like me haha.
