Urban Style Bordeaux Centre Hotel de la Presse

Amazingly handy to the main streets in Bordeaux. The breakfast was better than I expected, and my need for gluten free satisfied. There was little light in the room, good for me. It was relatively quiet with the window closed. It had a heat pump so we could maintain a good temperature. The bed was comfortable. The shower was fine, and did not leak all over the floor. It had a lift. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The room and bathroom were tiny. There were places for things, but no where to hang towels. A large person would not fit on the toilet as it fronted closely to the wall. The pillows were very thick, so I used my puffer jacket. If you sleep hot, as I do, the duvet was too thick - for winter. Being summer, and 29-31 outside, this was an odd choice. The floor was not very clean.

Great location above the L’Occitane shop , has a lift and luggage storage. Nice breakfast room with plenty of choice but you probably need to be there early to get the most choice. Bed was comfortable and shower clean, plus water in the room. I arrived after midnight and stayed one night so it was perfectly good for that. The staff were really nice and helpful. If you are coming from the airport, the easiest way is to get tram line F to stop St Catherine, take the 1st right on the same side as the stop, walk up Rue Sainte-Catherine until you get to Rue Porte Dijeaux on your left, about 10 mins walk. You can buy tram tickets at the stops although the TBM app is quick and easy to use, enable Bluetooth and location services so the tickets register on the scanner easily when you board the tram, it’s much cheaper than using the airport shuttle bus which doesn’t always run later in the evenings.

I stayed in the single room which was ok from a comfort and facilities perspective as I was only staying one night. The decor was drab, a fresh coat of paint and nice curtains would make a lot of difference.
