GRANDVRIORESORT ISHIGAKIJIMA Ocean's Wing & Villa Garden

The location was perfect and convenient for everything we wanted to do. The roof terrance was a cool experience. Staff were super friendly. The cleanliness was outstanding. I appreciate the options for eco or normal room cleaning.

The breakfast options were all of the same while there were many options they didn’t change at all.

We stayed for 6 days 7 nights and the buffet breakfast was very representative, kitchen manager please try your best to change the menu daily.

The view from the room was good as we had an ocean view. The hotel is large with all the basic facilities. The location is good, just outside the town so not noisy but close enough to get to restaurants etc in 10 mins. Plenty of parking. The buffet breakfast was ok.

The bed was very hard and the pillow was extremely uncomfortable - I used the sofa cushion instead. The swimming pool is not that large and fills up with just a few families using it. The photos make it look much bigger. The fountain/water area by the lobby is larger and you can't swim there! The two restaurants where you can have dinner are pretty soul-less - no atmosphere and you have to make a reservation first - spontaneity not allowed!

The resort feel stops at the impressive entrance - really small pool (do not be tricked by images of much larger pool at neighboring hotel under same brand, shown on web) which unlike neighbor resort closes at 18:00, and only a dozen of deckchairs for several 100s of guests - uninspiring restaurants all with indoor seating in spite of the spectacular view. Breakfast restaurant runs out of many things at 09:30 and no-one seems to have the responsibility of checking for this and fill up. - our rooms were not well maintained with very well used furniture, damp spots on ceiling etc. - we had more comfortable sleeping quarters on a futon in a lodge on top og Mount Hakuba. Beds are rock hard and your head rests on a bag of rice. Why ??? - NO BEACH. Fair enough geographically, but could be mentioned on hotel web site - a lack of even basic English skills throughout Overall hotel caters to Japanese guests which of course is fine given this is the majority of visitors. But at the price one could expect a little more of the international resort feel any Thai 3* hotel will deliver
