Kichijoji Tokyu REI Hotel

We stayed at Kichijoji Tokyu REI Hotel on two separate reservations, with a three-night trip to Osaka in between. Overall, I appreciated the efforts of the staff, and they were kind and helpful when we had problems. Unfortunately, the room conditions and a lack of coordination regarding our fragrance-free request caused significant issues for us. We had made separate bookings through Booking.com, and because the same room type was not available for both reservations, the hotel kindly gave us a complimentary room upgrade so that they could accommodate our bookings. I really appreciated this gesture.

Before our stay, I was also very clear about my fragrance sensitivity/allergy. During my first stay, my room on the 7th floor had a strong musty and lingering smoke smell, and the window could not be opened. I began feeling unwell. When I explained the problem, the staff responded immediately and moved me to a room on the 9th floor, which was better and had a window that could be opened. Before leaving for Osaka, I specifically explained that my partner would be joining me for our second stay and that his fragrance sensitivity is even more severe than mine. I asked them to please make sure our room was prepared without fragrance. Unfortunately, when we returned three days later, our room had a very strong fragrance, and there was even a room freshener spray in the room. Both of us became quite ill after spending the night there. We were not feeling well enough to deal with another room change that night and had to wait until the following day. Once again, the staff did their best to help when we spoke with them. However, there seemed to be a lack of communication and coordination regarding our second stay, despite my having explained our situation before leaving for Osaka. The hotel itself is older, and we found the carpeting and rooms quite musty, with lingering smoke odors. I want to emphasize that the staff members we dealt with were kind and genuinely tried to accommodate us. I especially appreciated the complimentary upgrade and how quickly they responded when I needed to change rooms. However, based on our experience, I would be cautious about recommending this hotel to anyone who is particularly sensitive or allergic to fragrance, smoke, mold, dust, or musty odors. For guests without these sensitivities, our experience may not be representative.

The hotel was just a few steps away from the subway and located in a calm and convenient area. All the staff were incredibly kind, polite, and helpful throughout my stay. A special thanks to Akiho, who went above and beyond to help me and made my stay even more enjoyable. I truly appreciate everyone’s hospitality and support. If I ever visit the area again, Tokyu REI will definitely be my first choice for a hotel! Arigato gozaimasu!

Nothing really bothered me during my stay. Everything was perfectly acceptable and good for me.

Had all the amenities, excellent location, comfy and clean room. The staff were super polite and even gave us a special cookie set and card (in addition to the welcome snacks) as we mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Genuinely sweet gesture!
