it is a very comfortable, pristine hotel with excellent breakfast and very friendly owners.

Nice view from the room, but you do need a car as it’s around 1.5 miles from the nearest pub.

Had a lovely one night. Room was cracking and so was the breakfast. Couldn’t fault the place at all.

Thomas was an extremely attentive host. Along with his mysterious wife (who was never seen!) nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing and faultless. Service was friendly, helpful and enjoyable. Skerrols House is an amazing venue and location. If wondering to book or not, do not hesitate. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely nothing

We liked everything! In particular the 5* luxury of the accommodation, the cosy comfortable beds, the spacious bathroom with underfloor heating and the superb breakfasts. But most of all we enjoyed meeting our host who was just so welcoming and couldn't do enough to make his guests feel at home and provide every convenience to make their stay special. We felt totally spoilt. Thank you so much, we loved staying with you.

separate hot and cold water faucets for bathroom sink. inability to consume takeaway food in any of the common areas. access road off main thoroughfare in need of chuck hole repairs. we were happy to reuse our towels each day hanging them up, but these were replaced each day, probably unnecessarily.

A large, comfortable, cosy place to stay on Islay. Thomas (the wonderful chap who runs the place along with his wife) was amazing and made our stay even more special. Right from the minute we arrived we felt very welcome. Our room was large and well laid out with all the amenities you could need. The lounge was large and comfortable and the breakfast room was also a good size. The breakfasts were excellent and although there is a good menu, Thomas made it clear that they would try and accommodate anything we wanted. The location is excellent for visiting anywhere on the island. Thomas provided a small fridge for us which was a nice thought and he even allowed me to wash my car using a hose he had outside the building. I cannot praise Thomas highly enough, a truely exceptional host and a great place to stay.

Not much and these are just small things which did not impact our stay but the road surface of the drive from the main road to the property is awful and full of potholes. Secondly, the pump in the shower in our room was very loud but as I said, these things are just small.

This is a wonderful place to stay. It has the feel of a remote location but is roughly a 10 minute drive from Bowmore. The hosts are fab and the comfort is second to none.

Thomas, our host, was very welcoming and clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. The breakfast choices were extensive and everything was beautifully presented. Would certainly recommend the signature dish. Room exceptionally clean and beautifully appointed with very comfy bed. The lounge and dining room were both beauifully appointed and very clean. If we were to return to Islay we would definitely book in at Skerrols House for a longer stay.

Delicious breakfast , flexible with menu, great location with great views. Thomas was extremely friendly and helpful.

Tomasz was the perfect host, very friendly and helpful. Our room couldn't be faulted, it had a great view as well to the south of the island. The breakfast was superb with lots of options, an excellent base for exploring the island.

There wasn't anything we didn't like

My wife and I visited Skerrols for just one night but we wished it had been for longer. What a lovely place. Thomas is a wonderful host, made us feel welcome and settled. The room was beautifully finished. Modern design, traditional touches. Felt brand new and spotlessly clean. The breakfast the next morning will take some beating and Thomas was not only friendly and warm but generous both with his time and the size of the breakfast we feasted on. His wife is an incredible chef.

Fantastic location - quiet but only ten minutes drive to Bowmore with fantastic views towards the Paps of Jura. Linda, who is currently running Skerrols House is lovely. She gave us helpful information about walks and things to do on Islay. She's also a fantastic cook - her breakfasts are wonderful.

Nothing to dislike. Everything was wonderful.

The cherry on top would have been able to sample a dram or two of whisky from the local distilleries on an honesty book basis but perhaps this is a licensing issue or it has been tried before and failed. Just remember to have some of your own available if you want a drink before you go out for supper.

I’ve been staying in UK B&Bs for over 20 years and this one is, by far, the best B&B I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. Thomas is an absolute gem and makes sure that every aspect of the stay is utterly superb. I will never stay anywhere else when on Islay! 10/10 for sure!
