I like the homey vibe. It feels like you’re staying with your grandma. The grandma who owns/manages the guesthouse was kind and made me feel comfortable during my entire stay. She cooks well.

the guesthouse is a small private property operated by one woman. The sleeping quarters are cordoned off by vertical blinds of an evening and are extremely comfortable and suitable.

I didn’t experience anything negative when I stayed here.

Look for market street diving away from the Hanaten metro station.. Go ahead beyond all shops.. People were sleeping on the floor and bed, hard to walk at night when the light is off :)

The lady that owns and runs the guest house is super friendly and kind ! She borrowed me her bicycle, cooked food and coffee, talked with me and showed me the neighborhood. It was very pleasant experience! The train station is very close to the hotel (2 minute walk) and there is a street with a super market and alot of shops (restaurants, candy and figure shops)!! There are 2 convenience stores nearby (equipped with ATMs). Many vending machines that sell soft drinks, coffee, water and alcohol for good prices! Furthermore the train station is very close to the Osaka Castle station, Osaka Loop Line (very important because you can get on many other train lines from there), and is also a station where both rapid (fast trains that stop at very few locations) and local trains (trains that stop at every station) stop. The guest house was cleaned every single day and was very calming to sleep at a fresh futon after alot of walking. The lady machine washed the futons, collected the trash from the trashcans, cleaned the tatami, bathroom and shower (everyday 10am-2pm roughly). Everything was very clean.

Because the hotel is at ground level, it is very likely that you will see some insects. Also there is a scheduled cleaning routine (10am-2pm not strict) and you should not be in the guest house during that time.

Old lady tried to be nice. Gave me cold drinks.

No secure place to store my belongings. They just sat next to my bed. There was no privacy and the kitchen is attached to the living room where I was staying. Lady went to work early morning making loud noise around 6-7am. You can only take a shower before 11pm. Roaches were crawling on kitchen counters at night. Limited English and lady seemed to want me gone ASAP in the morning. Put my bed away before I checked out. Price was almost twice my previous hostel and not as nice/convenient.

The person at the reception was really nice. I had a good talk with her. Breakfast was great. The futon was also good, plus, you can rent a bike (500 yen). The location is good too, by bike you can easily go to Osaka castle.
