A romantic place to stay, but rather rustic.
A very quaint romantic location in the centre of Toscana. It is easy to reach Lucca and Florence by train. This has to be reached by car. Very quiet. Nice restaurant near by. The roads up and down the hills have to be experienced to be believed.
We have one big nusance with this booking: When we booked we had to pay for cleaning with our booking. When we left, we were asked to pay for our cleaning again. We paid for this without thinking together with the gas and bedding. When we realised what we had done, we asked the host for the money back. She could not pay us but we needed to ask her agent, Novasol. Novasol denied that they had the money and we should ask booking.com. We asked them and they said at first that they only had the money for the rent and not the cleaning money. Booking.com and Novosol finally admitted that they did owe us 60€. But we still don't have it.
I don't know whose fault this is, but somewhere there is our 60€ stuck in the pipe. Had I been the host, I would have sorted this out myself and repaid the money. Had they returned our money that would have been the end of it. But as two months have gone by here goes...
WiFi: Mobile data could only be received by hanging out of the window. We had to go to the restaurant for wifi which meant that it was difficult to book tours, trains etc.
Lighting: In the bedroom only 2 out of 6 lightbulbs were working. In the bathroom only one out of two.
Bedding: The sheets were very old and the elastic on the bottom sheet was no good so the sheet would come off in the middle of the night.
Crockery: The crockery is an assortment of bits and pieces and - very surprising considering the 60€ for cleaning - many of the cups and the cutlery were dirty.
The bed head: The metal bed head was filthy behind it. Needs a good clean.
Rubbish removal: No information.
Shopping: No information as where to shop for normal things such as bread and milk etc.
Dog: If you don't like dogs, then you won't like having to walk past a neurotic dog which, although perhaps not being dangerous, was very terrifying with his bark and teeth when you had to creep by at night.
Laundry facilities: If you have kids then you washing machine somewhere.
