The Stratton House Hotel

Location and parking were great. Room was clean and comfortable and the pub area was welcoming and outside space attractive. Plenty of plug sockets in the room. Good hairdryer.

As a woman staying there on her own I didn’t like the fact there wasn’t 24 hour reception and it made me a bit concerned about my security. I hadn’t taken a photo of the emergency number in reception and when there was a bit of noise around midnight I didn’t want to go down and look for it…. Perhaps put this number in the rooms? The room was in need of refurbishment and had a stained grubby carpet. The door had no chain on it - although it did have a lever to lock from the inside. I had to leave early before staff arrived so had to carry everything down to the back door and take it all out at once as there was no way to get back in once I’d gone through the back door. Only 2 coat hangers in the wardrobe.

Ok value for money.Breakfast was ok. Pillows were ok. Room quiet.Check in easy. Breakfast staff friendly.

I asked for an internet password at 11pm at night by ringing the hotel ! as it wasn't in my room on arrival. The person who answered couldn't give the code over the phone ? I was already in my pjs, tired from a 6 hr drive, and didn't want to go to reception. He said he would bring it to my room , he didn't . Disappointing. The water in my room was scorching hot, bath and sink.

The size of our Room, very helpful housekeeper who went above and beyond to make our stay more pleasurable.. very comfortable bed, good size TV and our room was always clean

Small sink in bathroom, lack of continuity at breakfast, attitude of some members of staff, general atmosphere, a 🙂goes a long way to improve individual perceptions. Local hiring within the bar should not affect residents. There is a dining area which could be used for breakfast and that would be better than their current arrangements.

Excellent freshly cooked breakfast.Lounge/ bar areas well furnished and attractive. Breakfast staff very good.

Access to room was via two sets of stairs. Second set quite steep. Room pleasantly furnished but no view from window, only a wall. Quite noisy from traffic. Room had an ensuiite with bath and a hand held shower but couldn't stand up because of sloping ceiling. Slight niggle at breakfast was that any juice was extra Seemed a bit mean. Felt that perhaps the hotel was possibly being upgraded in stages.
