Situated a quiet 15-minute walk uphill from Kumano Hongu Taisha, this spacious house offers a remarkably comfortable ground-floor stay complete with a full kitchen, living room, and washer/dryer that make you feel right at home. The peaceful environment guaranteed a fantastic night's sleep after exploring the shrine and visitor center, while the delightful owner added extra charm by sharing local history about why homes were built on higher ground. It is the perfect, welcoming base for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Kumano.
A bit hard to find at first when coming up the local hill, but totally worth it. It’s located in a very safe, quiet neighborhood, and the space felt so comforting and warm—just like staying at a relative's home!

It’s such a lovely place to stay and Sanae is a wonderful host. Was a perfect rest from doing the Kumano Kodo.

It had everything for someone hiking in the area. The owner Sanae was so nice and helpful. She helped me get a short notice liggage transfer which allowed me to finish off the Kumano Kodo with ease.
The stairs... but only because I had hiked 27km. The 2nd floor was really nice and had a balcony area.

Location is good though a little bit uphill
The room is not clean. Shared bathroom is downstairs not convenient. Staff is okay but not friendly compared to other accommodations.
