We just spent a lovely 8 days at Tamu Seseh in a 2 bedroom villa. We loved this place. It feels more “classic” Balinese, we are happy to know places like this still exist in Bali. Too many Villas these days are sterile and sparse “Mediterranean” style, this is Bali, not the med. This Villa has character, it has fully established gardens and feels like a tropical oasis. The Villa itself is 20+ years old and that was the heyday of Balinese Villas. Beautiful design and it feels “Balinese” a beautiful outdoor style living area with nice day bed style couches to lay in and read. There are some minor defects which is consistent with its age, but not a big deal. Perfect location, quiet, a few min walk to the beach and Seseh Beach Warung which is great for a sunset or to laze around the beach. The staff and Agus are great and very responsive on WhatsApp. He helped arranged rental motorbikes and also went out of their way to accommodate a late checkout. We loved how discretely they came and cleaned while we were out at breakfast and then again in the evening while we were out to light mosquito coils and turn on the garden lights and turn down beds etc. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Bali.

it’s a private compound with an enclosed garden, pool, living area and pavilion (all open air). only 5min walk to the beach (but beach not v well maintained) a couple of f &b options within minutes walk even though it’s a quiet residential neighbourhood. evening turn down service was a nice welcome touch especially the lighting of mosquito coils around the villa (the bathroom is private and sheltered but not an enclosed space so appreciate not getting bitten when on the throne).

needs maintenance. bedroom smelled like it hasn’t been aired for a while. outdoor bathtub was badly stained. one out of two lights around it were not working when we checked in although it was remedied by our 2nd night. (lights were of different colours though) vanity counter is too high for anyone short (I’m approx 1.65m and it felt a little too high for me) also had an issue with hot water for the shower which was fixed the morning after we checked in. towels were thin. the property is very outdoorsy which makes it high maintenance. lots of trees within the villa which tend to stain things when fruits and leaves drop. the trees are de riguer for a Balinese villa though. location is a good 15-30min drive from the main canggu areas which can be a plus or con depending on what you plan to do.
