Aroma Tea House Formula Museum Hotel Guilin

Nice to stay in an 'original' hotel compared to a chain: there are several local artefacts on display. The lady on the desk was very welcoming and spoke excellent English. We were wanting to book sightseeing trips and she knew the most appropriate ones to propose considering our time there and the weather forecast. She described the trip to the rice terraces and a boat trip on the river and then made all the arrangements, including paying her. Before we'd arrived in Guilin the hotel had contacted us to ask if we wanted to book a car from the station, which we did, and which worked smoothly. The hotel is opposite one of the lakes in Guilin - like many other (Chinese) tourists we enjoyed walking round it and to the Sun & Moon pagodas in the evening. From the breakfast room on the 5th floor there is a lovely view of the lake, bridge and hills. There was a choice of western and Asian food at breakfast (fruit, bacon and scrambled egg, toast and cakes). There were a range of nationalities staying in the hotel with us. There’s a ground floor courtyard as well as a terrace on the 3rd floor. All the rooms have air conditioning and the bathrooms are well equipped and very functional. There’s a kettle in the room with tea and coffee, as well as bottled water.

A pity the room didn't have a mini fridge. That was the only things lacking!

Great location next to the lake, which is beautiful at night. Within walking distance of the market area and a restaurant hub with tons of local and a few European choices ie an Irish pub and an Italian restaurant. Staff were very pleasant and helpful too. Massages were fantastic! And rooms were enormous!

Breakfast choices were a bit limited.

A credit to the owner, great touches everywhere, great location for walking the lakes, staff were great, breakfast was fine for a westerner, views to die for.

Bellina la camera, meno scenografica da quello che mi aspettavo dalle voto, non un buon rapporto qualità/perzzo

Colazione un po' scarna, fatta eccezione della colazione all'asiatica, ma se vuoi altro sei fregato. Ma la cosa peggiore sono le attività che propone l'hotel: - risaie: uno spreco di soldi perché costa 300rmb a testa per il trasporto (poi lì l'autista te ne chiede altri 60 a testa) poi sono carine, ma mi aspettavo di più, sembrava proprio un attività per spennare i turisti. -La crociera (ho preso la nave 4stars in seconda classe): mi hanno detto che il prezzo era 470rmb a testa il biglietto ( in realtà quando mi è stato consegnato era 360rmb, giusto un pochino di cresta). In più ci hanno consigliato un autista per andare in aeroporto ma si poteva prendere comodamente un Didi e mi sarebbe costato molto meno.
