Chalet-hôtel Gai Soleil

Best hotel on our TMB route. Breakfast and dinner were great, and the room was clean and comfy. The Jacuzzi tub was a wonderful bonus and a great treat after a long day of hiking.

Great dinner, but it would have been nice to have 2-3 main dish options instead of just one.

We booked 2 nights here last minute, as we were camping and the weather for the last day and the day we were leaving was looking wet. We felt like the cat who got the cream! We had a gorgeous little room on the end on the ground floor, with one of the best views in the village out of our door/window!! We had a lovely relaxing couple of hours in their garden bar on arrival, enjoying a bottle of wine as the sun set behind the mountain. The next day it was so close to be able to potter around the town between showers, enjoying the comfy room to come back to and relax in throughout the day. The room was very comfy and clean, the staff were all so friendly and accommodating and both the evening meal and breakfast were delicious! Such a perfect way to finish our holiday and grateful the forecast forced us to change our initial plans and find this lovely hotel. We will definitely be staying here again.

Great views and hotel

A lovely, cosy lodge with a really welcoming atmosphere. It was a great place to stay after a long day of hiking, and we really enjoyed the cosy feel of the accommodation.

The main disappointment was the breakfast. Although breakfast was advertised as being available from 6:30am–8:00am, we went down at around 7:00am so we could eat before setting off for our hike, only to find that there was almost nothing left. Nothing appeared to be being refilled, and all that was available was some cold scrambled eggs and one very squashed pain au chocolat. Luckily, we were able to find some milk and muesli. This was particularly surprising given that the lodge clearly caters to hikers, who often need an early and substantial breakfast before a long day of walking. Having adequate food available throughout the advertised breakfast hours would make a big difference.
